Mews Cottage

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

Bampton village store and the Mardale Inn are within reach on foot, and the Lowther Valley sits midway between the Lake District's central peaks and the Yorkshire Dales. Red squirrels, deer and buzzards move through woodland here; the setting is quiet enough that wildlife matters, yet road access to Teesdale and Hadrian's Wall is straightforward. The hamlet's phone box—a Withnail and I film location—sits across from the cottage.

Mews Cottage is a converted farm building with a single-storey layout on ground level. Three bedrooms hold one kingsize and two single beds; one bathroom has a bath with shower attachment. The open-plan living space combines a sitting area with woodburner and smart TV, a dining zone, and a kitchen fitted with an electric range, dishwasher and the usual appliances. A conservatory opens onto an enclosed garden with seating. A private sauna adjoins the property. Oil heating, electricity, wifi and bed linen are included; parking for three cars sits on site. The stone floors and uneven levels reflect the building's age and converted character.

No smoking is permitted. The cottage suits groups or families wanting countryside quiet with the option to explore on foot or drive further afield.
