Great Urswick sits a few miles south of Ulverston, in countryside that opens onto the South Lakes. Oronsay Cottage is a four-bedroom house here, built to accommodate two families or a larger group. You have the whole place to yourselves, with space spread across two floors: four bedrooms (one double with its own shower room, two further doubles, and a twin), plus two bathrooms. The accommodation suits families with young children—a cot, highchair and stairgate are on hand.
Ground floor living centres on a stone fireplace in the main room, with a wood-burner in the dining area beyond. The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering: electric oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity and linen are included; fuel for both the open fire and wood-burner comes with the rent. One pet stays free. A lawned garden at the back has seating and a barbecue, enclosed by stone walls. The General Burgoyne pub is within a mile's walk.
Ulverston itself, a working market town a short drive north, has independent shops and restaurants. Walks start from the village; further afield lie the Lake District's gentler edges and local attractions including a safari park. No smoking inside the cottage.
