Souterstead

You arrive at Souterstead to a farmhouse that blends period charm with modern ease. Ground floor opens into a living room with woodburner and French doors onto garden, a separate kitchen with electric range and dishwasher, a second sitting room with TV and sound system, and a utility room with washer-dryer. Three bedrooms upstairs give ensuite bathrooms to two of them; the third shares a bath with a heated towel rail. One bedroom has a zip-and-link bed that splits into singles if needed. Two have king sleigh beds. The heating runs underfloor with slate flooring throughout, and logs for the burner are supplied on arrival.

Outside there is a private hot tub, a large enclosed garden with patio and decking, and parking for four cars. The water comes from a spring on the property. A stream runs 10 yards from the house (unfenced and partially covered). The garden has an outdoor tap for rinsing muddy paws or bikes. You are close to Coniston Water and within the southern reaches of the Lake District National Park. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all covered; one dog stays free. The property is available for couples and families only, not hen or stag parties. Smoking is not permitted.
