The Vicarage

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

The Vicarage is a substantial Victorian house near Ulverston, set in its own grounds down a quiet lane. Built in 1767 and restored over the years, it retains period character while offering practical space for groups. Seven bedrooms and two bathrooms accommodate up to 13 people: on the ground floor, two single beds; upstairs, a kingsize, four doubles, two singles in another room, and one single. Two showers and a separate toilet provide additional facilities where needed.

The property is genuinely well equipped for self-catering on this scale. Two kitchens—one with an oil Aga alongside a dishwasher and microwave, the other with an electric cooker, washing machine and tumble dryer—mean cooking and laundry do not become bottlenecks. An open fire warms the entrance room (fuel costs extra). Electric heating and storage heaters are throughout. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. A cot and highchair are available. The garden has a patio, furniture and a barbecue; parking is on site. One dog stays free.

Coniston Water lies two miles away across countryside. The market town of Ulverston is five miles off, with a golf course, sports complex and shops. Walking, sailing and mountain biking are all within reach. The property does not permit smoking.
