Thornton Cottage is a stone-built property sleeping five in the village of Kirkby in Furness, with the Lake District within reach and Black Combe Hill dominating the skyline. You have the whole place to yourselves: a living room with a smart TV and electric fire on the ground floor; a kitchen and dining area with a full range of appliances for cooking and eating together; and three bedrooms upstairs—a kingsize, a bunk bed room, and a single suitable for a child. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower. One pet can stay at no extra cost.
The essentials are covered: wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are provided, and central heating keeps things warm. On-road parking is available. The cottage does not permit smoking. Kirkby in Furness itself is quiet, with St Cuthbert's Church in nearby Beckside dating back to the 12th century, and a community hall running local sports. Wallend, just a short walk away, is a viewpoint where the fells are detailed in bronze. Walks start from the door—one circular route passes farmyard animals, another drops down to Foxfield for panoramic views across the fell range. Ulverston's market town shops and cafés lie over Kirkby Moor, and Barrow-in-Furness (home to the Dock Museum and Furness Abbey) is a short drive. Coniston and its water can be reached in under 15 minutes by car.
