About The Shippon
A former shippon - once a shelter for cattle - has been converted into a small guest accommodation at Luckwell Bridge, on the edge of Wheddon Cross in Somerset. With only two rooms, it keeps things simple and intimate rather than hotel-like, and its stone character remains part of the appeal.
Guests have use of a garden with outdoor seating and views over the surrounding countryside, along with a kitchen and 24 hour reception. Pets are welcome, and free parking is available on-site, close to the property itself. There's no restaurant on site, but a pub, bar and other eating places are all nearby for meals out.
The setting gives easy reach into Exmoor National Park, making it a practical stop for walkers and anyone exploring the surrounding moorland and villages. It's a straightforward, characterful place to base yourself rather than a destination in its own right.
