A market-square hotel in the heart of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, with spacious rooms and easy access to the town's historic streets.
About The Rose & Crown Hotel
Market Place in Wisbech has been the town's focal point for centuries, and The Rose & Crown Hotel occupies a spot right on it, surrounded by the shops, streets and river-town character that give this part of Cambridgeshire its appeal. It's a convenient base for exploring the area, with local attractions, transport links and the town's pubs and restaurants all within easy reach on foot.
Rooms here are generally spacious and comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms, family options for those travelling with children, and drinks available in room. That said, some parts of the hotel show their age, and maintenance can be patchy in places, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly rather than looking for polish. Staff are consistently helpful, and the hotel offers good value alongside convenient parking, which matters in a busy market town centre.
Beyond the rooms, there's a restaurant and bar on site, breakfast and packed lunches available, a snack bar, and a garden with outdoor seating and a picnic area for quieter moments. The hotel also handles weddings, with a bridal suite and meeting rooms for business use, plus concierge and luggage storage for practical needs. Fishing, entertainment and further pubs and restaurants are all nearby, making it a workable base for a short stay in Wisbech.

What guests say
We stayed at this hotel last summer and tbh, it was pretty bad. Having heard it had been recently taken over, we tried again. We paid £65 for a superior twin room for 1 night and was definitely worth the money. The whole hotel smells and looks so much cleaner, the room was very big with a large clean bathroom, good shower and they also provide mini shower gels and shampoo. Good service. Comfy bed. Smart tv. Good wifi. The hotel is obviously a working progress, but considering it was only taken over in January...a great improvement so far!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay so much in Dec that we decided to return to celebrate my birthday. The manager Khalid, and his team Mahmoud and Reece, are so friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and very comfortable, with so much charm being a listed building. We will be returning again, thank you for a lovely visit 😊

Myself and three of my work colleagues booked into the rose and crown after our planned accomodation fell through. Even though it was our second choice, we soon learned on arrival it should’ve been our first. The service was fantastic, rooms spotless and overall a welcoming and cozy environment. If you’ve been to Wisbech you’ll know it’s not paradise on earth, but staying in a place like The Rose and Crown gets you a little bit closer.

The staff were friendly, but that’s the only positive thing I can say. The place itself was in a terrible condition. I understand it’s an old building, but that’s no an excuse for how dirty and poorly maintained it is. Basic cleanliness is not expensive , and this place clearly doesn’t make an effort. The rugs were filthy, and the whole room felt unhygienic. I was so uncomfortable with the cleanliness that I actually went out and bought my own bedding because I didint trust what was provided. That says everything.
