About Lady Margaret's Park Experience Freedom Glamping
Tucked into five acres of woodland parkland mere steps from 13th-century Chirk Castle, this upscale glamping village straddles the Cheshire-Wales border and offers a polished escape for families and dogs alike. The swish pods and units feature modern design with quality fittings, each with a private garden where barbecues are welcome, plus there's a communal firepit for evening gatherings. Kids have a dedicated play area, while four-legged friends enjoy their own dog space and endless walks through the castle's 480-acre grounds.
Facilities are thoughtfully done: family and disabled washrooms, dishwashing stations, laundry, even electric car charging. The cosy bistro at Chirk Castle is right on your doorstep, or stroll 15 minutes into Chirk town for cafés, small shops and waterside pubs along the River Ceiriog or Shropshire Union Canal. It's a slick, well-kept base that feels special without being overly fussy.

What visitors say
We stayed at Lady Margaret’s Park Club Campsite in Chirk, booked through the Caravan and Motorhome Club, and found it to be a very clean, well-organised and secure woodland site. It’s well located for exploring the area, particularly with the canal and Chirk Viaduct nearby. Arrival is smooth with ANPR entry, and the check-in process allows you to choose your own pitch—once you’ve picked one, you simply text the site with your pitch number, which worked very well. All pitches are flat gravel, making setup straightforward, and they are well spaced, giving a quiet and relaxed feel, especially at night. The facilities are excellent—large, clean and very warm, with good showers that stay on rather than push-button timers. There’s a good playground for children, and the site feels very safe and well managed. The on-site shop is limited to basic essentials, and there are no social facilities such as a pub or café, so it’s more of a self-contained site. Mobile signal was good throughout our stay. It’s a great base for cycling and walking, with easy access onto the canal—ideal for trips towards Chirk or up to Trevor, where there are more amenities. Overall, it’s a high-standard, reliable site and we would definitely return.
