Cloud Howe sits within the Old School buildings on the Arbuthnott Estate, a working family home that dates back over nine centuries. The cottage is one of three here, each named after novels by local author Lewis Grassic Gibbon. You get the whole place to yourself: three bedrooms (one double, two with single beds), a shower room and separate toilet, plus a kitchen with electric cooking, a dishwasher and washing machine, and a living room with Freeview TV and DVD player. Wood pellet heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included.

The setting is rural Aberdeenshire, close enough to beaches and coastal walks that Inverbervie is only 3½ miles away. The cottage comes with parking for two cars, a small sitting area and access to a large enclosed garden shared with the other properties on-site. There is a play park in an adjacent field. The Grassic Gibbon Centre is nearby for anyone interested in the author's life and work. Walking and cycling routes cross the surrounding countryside, and the road network makes it straightforward to explore Royal Deeside and further into Scotland. One dog is welcome. The property does not permit smoking.
