Rural Aberdeenshire lies within reach of dramatic coastline, quiet beaches and a network of walking routes through woodland and past historical sites. Middle Lodge occupies this landscape as a detached granite house on the edge of Pitfour Estate, where footpaths wind through mature grounds originally landscaped by Capability Brown. The property sleeps four across two bedrooms—a kingsize on the ground floor and a double upstairs—with one bathroom and a separate toilet. An open fire warms the living and dining space; the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with a dishwasher, electric cooker and all the basics. Bed linen, towels, WiFi and logs are provided.
Outside, the south-facing garden is enclosed and planted with established shrubs and trees. A terrace runs along the back with garden furniture, and a summerhouse offers a quiet retreat. Two cars can park on site. The property does not permit smoking. The small unfenced pond in the garden and 15 steps to the upper floor are worth noting before booking.
From here you can walk to the Cistercian ruins at Old Deer, visit standing stone circles, watch seals at Newburgh or explore the cliff walks to Slains Castle near Cruden Bay. Three links golf courses sit within an hour's drive at Cruden Bay, Peterhead and Fraserburgh. Several castles—Fyvie, Delgatie and Banff among them—make for day trips. One dog is welcome to stay.
