Dyfi WildCamping, Gwynedd: medium-sized wild camping site with 26–50 tent and motorhome pitches on remote farmland.
About Dyfi WildCamping
Dyfi WildCamping is a wild camping site on a working farm near Aberdovey, with between 26 and 50 pitches for tents and motorhomes spread across remote, uneven terrain. The site operates as a pop-up campground in a spectacular setting with views of lake and mountain, and sits on gravel or loose mud ground that can be challenging underfoot. Facilities are basic: showers are available, but there is no hot water, running water or drinkable water point on site.
The location suits walkers, climbers, mountain bikers and water sports enthusiasts — canoeing, kayaking and sailing are all nearby, as are cycle hire, fishing, horse riding and indoor pool facilities. Dogs are welcome throughout the year and there is a dog walk close by. The site welcomes students, motorcycle riders, D of E groups and commercial vehicles. Public transport is accessible, and there is a restaurant within reach. Expect a peaceful, wildlife-rich setting rather than amenities or comfort.

What visitors say
Wild camping at its finest. Quite simply put, only book here if you are prepared to not require anything more than your basic facilities like toilets and showers. The site is set in a spectacular valley next to a river. This area is perfect for bird watchers, enthusiasts of RAF planes as they do fly bys most afternoons, and just peace with nature. The site also have two communal kayaks to borrow during your stay (no need to book or pay), there are fire logs to purchase by bank transfer and contacting the owner of the site via mobile. I spoke to Rhys through Text, who was lovely and quick to respond to myself and others on site. In terms of the facilities, they are very basic and exposure to the wild and you can find old bird nests in the toilets and the showers are bit worse for ware being held together by hair bobbles, but they work enough to have a decent shower. I have to say the highlight is the river direct from the campsite, lovely clear, deep part to kayak in, and shallow bits for toddlers and ability to walk on, just be careful of the slippery rocks, because they are smoothed out and covered in algae. There are a wide variety of birds too that reside or near to the site, buzzards, red kites, short ear owls, wagtails and house Martins just to name a few. Reasonably priced too at £10 per adult a night and under 5s free dogs are £5

Exactly as described, this is a relaxed and easy-going campsite where everyone was respectful throughout our stay. It was so refreshing to find a site where you don’t feel on top of each other — the pitches are spacious, well spread out, and there’s plenty of safe open space for children to run around and explore freely. There are fire pits available for everyone to use, with logs conveniently sold on site. We were initially a little anxious about staying without electric hook-up, but it actually turned out to be lovely and gave us some proper quality family time. The toilets, hot showers, and washing facilities were a huge bonus, and we never had to deal with long queues. The nearby river was beautiful too, just a short walk away, with families and fellow campers enjoying paddling and relaxing by the water. It’s easy to see why this campsite is so popular with bikers, walkers, families, and couples alike. At a really cheap price for everyone to enjoy!

A wonderful location in the Dyfi valley just 15 mins from Mach. It's an open field with two toilets and two showers so it can get busy with the numbers, the facilities are very basic/rustic but the showers provide hot water and the toilets aren't long drops or portaloo. They are essentially proper toilets and showers in a shed.
