You're welcome to stroll through the woods, perhaps collecting fallen twigs for your campfire, or even pitch among the trees themselves.

Making the most of mid-Wales should be straightforward from here, with walks, bike rides (including intrepid downhill mountain biking) and heritage train rides all close by, while Newtown – ten minutes' drive – offers museums, arts venues and supplies. Do note this is a thoroughly rural, back-to-basics spot: facilities stretch just to portable toilets with no hot water, you'll need a torch after dark, and the terrain may prove tricky for wheelchair users. No dogs are permitted because of livestock in surrounding fields, but for those seeking peaceful wild camping in a genuine wildlife haven, it's hard to beat.
