A 14-room inn at Temple Grafton near Alcester, known as much for its Sunday roast and Indian dishes as its beds for the night.

About The Blue Boar

The Blue Boar's menu stretches from traditional pub classics to Indian dishes, with the Sunday roast earning particular loyalty among those who stop in for a meal rather than a bed. It's a rare mix for a village inn, and it sets the tone for a stay that feels as much about the table as the room.

There are 14 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, and guests can expect drinks and room service brought up if they'd rather not head downstairs. Breakfast is included in the rhythm of the place, and a packed lunch can be arranged for those heading out for the day. Free WiFi and free on-site parking cover the practical side, while meeting rooms make it workable for small gatherings too.

Outside, there's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer evenings, plus a bar for a quieter drink. The surrounding area suits walkers and cyclists, and there's a golf course, pubs, and further restaurants within reach for those wanting to explore beyond Temple Grafton. Staff are consistently described as warm and attentive, though service at busy times can be on the slower side.

Mr L

Having recently dined at The Blue Boar Inn, I was thoroughly impressed by both the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. From the moment I arrived, the warm atmosphere and attentive service set the tone for what proved to be an excellent meal. I opted for dishes from both the traditional pub menu and the Indian selection, and it quickly became apparent that the kitchen takes great pride in its food. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was thoughtful, and the flavours were well balanced throughout. The Indian dishes were particularly impressive, offering authentic flavours and perfectly judged spice levels, while the traditional pub fare delivered the comfort and quality expected from a reputable countryside inn. The service was professional, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. Staff were knowledgeable about the menu and ensured that everything was to a high standard throughout the visit. The restaurant itself strikes a perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort, creating a welcoming environment for both casual dining and special occasions. What stood out most was the consistency across every aspect of the experience. From the quality of the food to the hospitality of the team, The Blue Boar Inn demonstrates why it has earned such a strong reputation. It is refreshing to find a venue that successfully combines excellent British pub classics with a genuinely impressive Indian menu. Overall, I would highly recommend The Blue Boar Inn to anyone looking for quality food, excellent service, and a relaxed yet refined dining experience. It is a venue I would happily return to and one that deserves recognition for maintaining such high standards. ★★★★★ 5/5

We visited on the 23/4/26 armed with our Groupon voucher having no idea what we were in store for. Well, the Blue Boar exceeded our expectations and more. The pub is full of character and an added bonus is the Conservatory which we sat in on a chilly but sunny day. The staff (Ashton) who looked after us was just lovely and very attentive. We had the 3 course meal as per the voucher (highly recommend) and were blown away when our starter, we both chose the Samosa which looked Mitchelin style in it's presentation was mind blowing. The main meal and Desert was of the same quality and presented beautifully. We Highly Recommend and will be going back soon. Thank you.

We stayed as a couple and overall had a good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was excellent. Breakfast on the first day (Sunday) was disappointing as there was limited selection, no refills for coffee or orange juice, and service felt a bit lacking. However, on our last day the service improved a lot. The staff member who served us (an Indian gentleman) was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive to guests’ needs, which made a big difference. Overall, a good stay with great location and room, with excellent service on the final day.

My wife and I went for an early evening meal on Saturday night as we were staying nearby for a couple of nights (Xmas gift). So glad we found this place, restaurant had been done out so nicely and the staff were all so friendly especially the young lady that served us (sorry I didn't catch her name). On to the food.. It was amazing!!! We chose to have meals from the Indian menu and both were fantastic.. My dish (Lamb and mushroom curry) was one of the nicest Indian dishes I have tried. It's just a shame that we live about 100 miles away!! If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely go back.
