About Runway's End Outdoor Centre

Tucked beside the Basingstoke Canal between Farnborough and Aldershot, Runway's End Outdoor Centre is a small, secure site where families can genuinely relax. The entire campsite is fenced with a key-coded gate, kept entirely car-free, and compact enough that children can explore safely while parents unwind. A spacious grass area invites ball games and running about, while activities like archery, climbing and canoeing can be arranged on-site or nearby.

Accessibility has been thoughtfully designed throughout: flat paths link the grass pitches to facilities, and the shower and toilet blocks feature wheelchair-accessible amenities and step-free access. The towpath is right there for canal-side walks or rides stretching 32 miles in either direction, and the surrounding area offers military museums, animal parks and a lido for day trips.

With Junction 4 of the M3 just ten minutes away, it's an easy escape from London—though the peaceful, wooded setting feels a world apart. Dogs aren't permitted, which keeps the atmosphere calm and child-focused.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Campsite, Brilliant Staff & Amazing Family Memories We’ve just come back from an awesome family camping trip to Runway’s End in Aldershot, Hampshire with Mum, Dad and Evie, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The campsite is brilliantly laid out with a limited number of pitches, which gives it a spacious and relaxed feel without ever feeling overcrowded. There are also options to stay in glamping pods or yurts if traditional camping isn’t your thing. The facilities were absolutely fantastic – spotlessly clean and really well maintained throughout our stay. The communal fridge and freezer were also a brilliant touch, making it easy to keep beers cold and ice creams frozen during the warmer weather! We loved spending evenings around the campfire enjoying great food and drinks and making some amazing family memories. There’s also loads to do on-site (opening times depending), including water sports, woodland shelter building, a climbing tower, archery and air rifle shooting, making it ideal for families and anyone who enjoys outdoor adventures. What really made this place stand out though was the staff. Everyone was welcoming and helpful, but a special mention has to go to Zac. He was polite, professional, extremely helpful and very accommodating throughout our stay. Zac genuinely went above and beyond for us and made an already brilliant trip even better. A fantastic campsite with amazing staff, excellent facilities and plenty to do. We’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend Runway’s End to anyone looking for a family camping getaway. I organised a work social on the climbing wall during a week day evening recently. Friendly, helpful staff over the phone & email when arranging. The instructors were very accommodating to the groups ability, made it fun and enjoyable. It was a good climbing session, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We went there for a communal residential programme for two nights. Very nice and accessible location. Out of the city's hustle bustle situated in a jungle. Very peaceful and scenic location. They have lots of activities to do inside and outside. There is a canal nearby that stretches to Basingstoke. There are many options to stay, including tents, which can hold up to twelve people. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay.

We keep going back. We now have an annual family weekend at the pods for the whole family. The kids have the best time. We have South African Braai and have enough left overs for days. The pods are great. Bunk beds help to cater for family’s. Not the best mattress but if u bring a yoga mat … ur good. The kettle in the rooms are a great help. Love that there is underfloor heating. Clean bathrooms and pods. This is a great venue to host a big party ❤️ the best is the bonfire at night.
