Best food in the Borders, great selection of locally sourced ingredients never fails to fill a hole. Beer garden is great no matter the time of year thanks to their heaters and huts. Tasty pizzas all summer long too! Great atmosphere, children and dog friendly!

Fantastic. Wonderful setting in the garden with sweeping countryside views, locally sourced produce, expertly curated menu, great ales, nice service. I had high expectations based on the previous reviews and this certainly delivered. Definitely on my list of places to return to. Stick it on your list if you are staying in the area or even just driving past on the A1.

A nice short scenic drive from the A1 in the Borders. The art deco Primary School in Chirnside looks like a beautiful learning site & the sunshine was a bonus. The Allanton Inn is also a sparkling gem serving incredible local produce in a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere, with a well built menu that caters for all tastes & dietary requirements. For lunch, I had chicken on a bed of pearl barley with bacon & mushrooms in a creamy sauce which was very tasty & all beautifully cooked. My partner had trout served with potatoes & hollandaise sauce which she thought was "the best trout she'd ever tasted". I didn't think I'd have room for dessert but did manage an affogato which I enjoyed very much. I'd hope to re-visit soon!

Lovely family run Inn Amazing food. Everywhere clean. Staff very helpful, professional and friendly. Views from room unbelievable. Even managed to sit out in the beer garden in March. Very peaceful relaxing time. Highly recommend. If you are thinking of visiting the Jim Clark museum this is an ideal place to stay.
