Stayed on the Campsite in our Caravan for 5 nights. Campsite is basic but it is in an excellent location for exploring the local area. In the pub it has a friendly atmosphere. We recieved a warm welcome from Claire behind the bar. She was helpful and attentive. She is a great asset to the pub. We stayed for Sunday lunch. 10 out of 10 for lunch. Food was well presented, hot, plate was piled high and good value for the money. Cost us about £75 for 4 people including drinks. I would highly recommend

I can’t comment on the rooms as we didn’t stay over. I can however comment very positively on the food, the welcome and the general ambiance. We travelled as a group from Sunderland (approximately 50miles) on a friend’s recommendation. The welcome along with the selection of drinks was very good; a counter top full of pump heads, a well stocked fridge and multiple optics and bottles. The recommendation was for the food. It was a very good recommendation, the Sunday lunch (prepared from scratch, no bought in warm up stuff) was excellently presented with ample sized portions. Nothing seemed too much problem for the attentive but not overpowering staff. The cost of approximately £20 a head for a main course and a couple of drinks was a very pleasant surprise, given the cost in the nearby town of Alnwick. I could go on and on, but to sum it up, we will be back in the very near future; it was that good.

Very friendly but myself and my partner both had to send our dinners back as there was a dodge taster, the manager S was very apologetic and offered us another plate and said we could have drinks or desserts on the house, very friendly and helpful waitresses but don’t think we will be going back in a hurry
