About Alnwick Rugby Club Campsite

Alnwick Rugby Club Campsite is a small sports club site in the Northumberland market town of Alnwick. It offers basic facilities including showers, making it a no-frills option for those wanting a simple base in the area.

The site sits among other sports grounds—Alnwick Town Football Club and Alnwick Cricket Club are both within a few minutes' walk—which gives some sense of the local sporting culture. Alnwick itself is worth exploring on foot: the castle is a real draw, and the town has pubs, shops and restaurants within easy reach. For something different, the Coquet River runs through the area and there are walks heading out into the surrounding countryside. It is the kind of place to use as a convenient stopping point rather than a destination campsite in itself.

Very welcoming location. Camping available most of the time depending on Rugby fixtures. Camping facilities include: el hook up on some pitches, showers, toilets. - Short walk into town, steep in parts. - Supermarket and local shops. - Fascinating town with Castle to visit. - Friendly locals, very chatty - Barter Books, unmissable if your a bibliophile

An excellent peaceful site close to a retail park and 20/30 minutes walk into Alnwick Town centre and close to Alnwick Gardens and Castle. Clean toilets and showers with push button hot water. Clubhouse open from 6pm for a swift pint. An excellent find is the Cafe472 10 minute walk behind Sainsburys which is open nearly all day for breakfast lunch and dinner plus coffee and scones cake. Brilliant find.

Stayed in our motorhome over Easter. Clean facilities, open 24 hours. Great location, half mile walk to barter books, town, castle etc. We were battered by wind due to storm Dave during our stay but still enjoyed. Worth noting that some electric pitches are on grass. We got stuck on day one but warden offered to get a tractor to assist . Thankfully it was dry enough for us to move when we left. A little light on the elsan disposal point would be helpful 🙂
