About Harbour Inn

Warkworth Castle and Coquet Island are both within easy reach of Harbour Inn, making this Amble address a handy base for exploring the Northumberland coast. Fishing, golf and watersports are all nearby too, alongside a scattering of local pubs and restaurants for those who want to venture beyond the inn itself.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in-room, and free WiFi, with 24 hour reception and luggage storage on hand for early arrivals or late departures. Free on-site parking makes driving down from the castle or back from the coast straightforward.

The pub downstairs is the real draw for many, serving hearty portions of proper pub food, from seafood to a well-regarded Sunday roast, in a cosy setting warmed by an open fire. Staff are friendly, the drinks selection is decent, dogs are welcome, and kids' meals are available, making it as much a place to eat well as to sleep well.

Visited recently and unfortunately left feeling a bit disappointed overall. We ordered fish and chips, a kids’ chicken and chips, and a kids’ burger. The main issue for us was noticing that some of the condiments on the table were around 10 months past their best-before date. We mentioned this to staff, but they weren’t replaced with newer ones, which was disappointing. The fish and chips were £21, and while the portion size was decent, the fish was quite greasy and the plate it was served on was chipped. Altogether the bill came to £74, which felt expensive considering the issues we experienced. The staff were polite enough, and there may have just been an off day, but we felt the attention to detail and overall value for money could have been much better.

Really disappointing! Steak overcooked and dry, seafood curry literally just a prawn curry. Kids portions were generous, only saviour. Service extremely poor. Couldn’t get attention to let staff know about steak, nobody asked how meals were, not offered any further drinks during or after meal or a dessert menu. After 10 minutes had to go up and ask staff to get kids ice cream and then it was served without spoons to eat it! Again had to go and ask staff for cutlery. Decided to go for dessert and drinks elsewhere. Expensive for below average food and service :(
