Simple, well-run family campsite near Valley on the west of the island

About Pencraig Campsite

Pencraig is a straightforward, well-kept campsite just inland from Anglesey's western coast, pitched at people who want clean facilities, reasonable rates and quick access to the island's best coastal walks and beaches rather than on-site entertainment. Pitches are level and grassy, with electric hook-ups available for tents, tourers and motorhomes, and the modern toilet and shower blocks are consistently well maintained. The site is genuinely dog-friendly, and being slightly inland offers better shelter from Atlantic wind than the exposed coastal sites – a real advantage if you're under canvas outside the peak weeks.

What you're really paying for here is position. RSPB South Stack and its dramatic seabird cliffs are around fifteen minutes by car, as are Holyhead Mountain, the beaches at Trearddur Bay and Rhosneigr, and the start points for the western section of the Anglesey Coastal Path. Valley has a supermarket and pubs within easy reach, and Holyhead is ten minutes up the road for anything else. The site's simplicity is reflected in the price, which remains among the more reasonable on the island.

Excellent campsite, not too big but with all required amenities and very generous sized pitches. Shower block clean and warm. Location brilliant for exploring the West of the island, and still not too far from other resorts and the mainland.

Spacious, well provided for campsite Very quiet at night. Noisy during the day weekdays due to nearby RAF training (which applies to all of Anglesey) Good toilet/ Shower block All pitches have shared electric/ water supply Reasonable cafes restaurant in nearby Valley{The town} or Trearddur bay. Easy access to Holyhead and enjoyable day at RSPB south Stack

Pencraig site is a very clean and a nice site not over crowded. The owners are very friendly The showers and toilets are very clean. The showers are the best we have ever used on a campsite. Just a couple of things that could be helpful for other campers: * the showers sometimes go freezing and my daughter was washing her hair when this happened so we had to boil some water and wash it out so a notice just saying that they can go very cold * the showers could do with a little shelf for your shower gel and a hook to hang up your flannel or scrubber * put some hooks above the shelf where you put your clothes because if you hang them on the door hooks they get a bit wet * I would put up a notice board with local taxis, takeaways, maps of ear by pubs, shops, beaches etc due to signal issues. * on site the wooden hut could be open daily with all your essentials because the hut was closed and it didn't say what it was or any opening times. * better signage for the site because we drove past it and missed the turning to the lane I would definitely recommend this site to family and friends
