Greenford Farm

Photo: Greenford

Rolling hills and open farmland surround Greenford Farm, a converted agricultural building that sits elevated above the Angus landscape. Seven miles from Dundee, yet far enough out to feel genuinely rural, the property works well for families or groups wanting to escape the city without leaving it entirely inaccessible. The Sidlaw path network runs through the area—Auchterhouse Hill is within easy reach for walks with views across the Firth of Tay towards Fife.

The farmhouse holds three bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping six. Downstairs is an open-plan living and dining space with a double-sided woodburner, plus a separate sun room with its own stove and countryside views. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering—oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine are all there. Ground floor heating is underfloor; the rest of the house has air source heat pump warming. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. The enclosed garden has a patio with seating and a barbecue; there's parking on site. No smoking inside. One dog is welcome.

Dundee itself offers shops, restaurants, a theatre and Discovery Point if you want a day out. The immediate area has leisure facilities and shops too, but the property's real appeal is its quiet setting—converted carefully from the original structure, with enough space and comfort to settle in properly rather than just pass through.

Visited this holiday cottage (old farmhouse?) which has been thoroughly modernised and is generously furnished, both internally and in the garden. It has one bedroom downstairs, ideal for a disabled person. The one thing which we found lacking was a second handrail for the other side of the staircase, as we had a second member of the family who was not young and had to be helped up and down, because of the lack of one. Worth bearing in mind before booking.
