🏡 Self-Catering Cottage

The Lucken

Photo: The Lucken - Holiday Cottage

The Lucken is a former fisherman's cottage in the village of Auchmithie, on the Angus coast near Arbroath. Everything happens on the ground floor: a living room with woodburner and television, a kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine, two bedrooms (one double, one twin), and a bathroom with bath and shower. An enclosed garden with terrace wraps around the property, with tiered levels suitable for sitting out and dining outdoors.

Essentials like bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included, along with logs for the woodburner. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering—there's a fridge, microwave and all the usual equipment for cooking. Parking is on-road, and there's storage for bikes. The property sleeps four and is yours alone for the duration of your stay; smoking is not permitted inside.

Dolphins and porpoises are regularly spotted from the garden. Auchmithie sits at the start of a coastal walk heading south to Arbroath, which passes Seaton Cliffs and takes around two hours to walk. Arbroath itself has the harbour famous for its smoked fish, Arbroath Abbey, and the Signal Tower Museum. Inland lie the Angus Glens and numerous golf courses; Montrose and its RSPB basin are within reasonable reach.

Just stayed here for the week and I must say that I loved it. The house is beautiful with great garden with a stunning view. It's just a short walk from the beach and great coastal walks. Will definitely be coming back again.

This place is spectacular and the communication from the owners Nick and Cheryl is great. The welcome pack is extraordinary with a lovely supply of very welcome treats. The cottage itself comes complete with everything you need and all to the highest of specifications right down to logs for the Woodburner. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has been overlooked. The views from the windows overlooking the sea are without precedent...stunning. the split level garden is majestic and perfect to sit with a drink. Just the best place to relax and reset.
