Eilean Donan Castle

Lovely little castle with amazing 360 scenery. I wouldn't make a special trip here try and use it as s top whilst in the area. Castle is not that big lovely displays. No photos whilst in the castle. Very busy as a popular tourist atrraction I recommend going late afternoon. Lovely range of cakes and the mocha is delicious nice and creamy. Not bad fee for admission you can't pre-book you have to turn up and purchase tickets

Eilean Donan Castle is easy to visit and very scenic, but don’t expect a huge castle experience. Parking is across the bridge at the visitor centre. It’s paid, organized, and usually fine, though it can fill up in busy months. From there you walk a short bridge to the castle. Inside is small. A few rooms, narrow stairs, and some historical displays. It feels quick — you can go through it in under an hour. Outside is the main reason people come. The views around the loch and mountains are genuinely beautiful, especially from the bridge. That’s the strongest part of the visit. There are toilets, a café, and a gift shop near the parking area. Everything is clean and functional. Overall, it’s more about the location and photos than the castle interior. Worth a stop if you’re passing, but not a major detour.

One of the most beautiful and recognised castles in Scottish Highlands. Location of the castle is realy spectacular! We visited early in the morning on the way to Isle of Skye so we didn't enter but it was fantastic experience to see castle that I saw on so many pictures.

Eileen Donan Castle…. This iconic Scottish landmark is located on a small island at the meeting point of three lochs just outside the ancient fishing village of Dornie. Eileen Donan is recognised worldwide and is famous not just for its long history but also its fame is for being on several notable films but also the face of Scotland on so many tourist souvenirs. The castle is now connected to the mainland via a bridge built many years ago which now provides a short walk from the dedicated visitor carpark, ticket office, cafe and shop. The approach to the castle is fantastic, the sight I have seen for so many years and finally having the chance to visit was superb. The castle is a grand building that has been attacked and defended several times over its history but its renovation and current maintenance is an excellent preservation of a very special place. The castle is not a ruin and many of the rooms are fully furnished in its traditional medieval style and even used to this day, visited and occupied by the owners. The rooms are either set out to reflect themes of times gone by or, furnished and adorned by the most fantastic artefacts and clan memorabilia. Outside and each room internally has a member of staff who have excellent knowledge of the castle and its history. It is an absolute must to visit Eileen Donan Castle and everyone must plan this experience into their Scottish trip. I can’t believe it la taken me so long to visit but I made it at last and it certainly met all expectations. Unfortunately, photographs are not allowed to most areas inside the castle but the external images captured should offer a good feel for the Eileen Donan Castle experience.
