Printmakers Cottage
Argyll and Bute
Printmakers Cottage began as a listed stone building, constructed around 1794 to house engineers working on the Crinan Canal. The conversion retains its character—exposed beams and a double-height main room with gallery study—while delivering modern comfort. One pet stays free of charge. The cottage sits beside the Bellanoch Basin section of the canal, with views across the water to the River Add estuary and beyond to Loch Crinan and Duntrune Castle.
The ground floor holds an open-plan living and kitchen area with patio access, plus a double bedroom and wet room—useful for anyone preferring not to navigate stairs. Upstairs are a kingsize bedroom, a bunk room, a bathroom with roll-top bath, and a study area. The owners, both with backgrounds in interior design and furniture restoration, have furnished the place thoughtfully throughout. Underfloor heating, wi-fi, bed linen and towels come as standard; the kitchen is equipped for cooking from scratch. Parking for three cars is on site. No smoking inside.
The Crinan Canal itself—often called the most beautiful shortcut in Britain—is 50 yards away, and the surrounding countryside is open for exploration. A pub and restaurant lie 1½ miles off; the nearest shop is 5 miles distant.
