Amberley Castle

A thoroughly enjoyable way to celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary. We spoiled ourselves and booked the celebration package. A beautiful bouquet of flowers awaited with chocolates and champagne. The staff went out of their way to make it feel special. They were friendly, professional and welcoming. The setting is perfect for a romantic break away. The 5 course tasting menu was superb and we were treated to a complimentary celebratory glass of Nyetimber rose sparkling wine. Afternoon tea the following day was taken in the garden - again good quality and most enjoyable. My husband enjoyed the apple strudel tea. We had a classic room - very comfortable with excellent tea and coffee making facilities. Spacious bathroom. Absolutely no complaints.

An amazing afternoon tea experience at Amberley Castle. We made a last-minute reservation and were lucky to get an outdoor table on a Saturday afternoon. Although all the garden tables were occupied, the setting still felt peaceful, with only the occasional laughter from a nearby table celebrating an 80th birthday—something rather lovely. The staff were warm, welcoming, and had a great sense of humour. My favourite was the flaky sausage roll, while the scone stood out with its fresh strawberry jam and thick cream. The hot sun did not bother us thanks to the large umbrella and gentle breeze, though it did melt the chocolate pastry a little. The portions were generous—we could not finish everything and took some home. The total came to £121 (including service), about £60 per person for a special afternoon tea in a castle. We should have booked earlier to allow more time to explore the castle and surrounding town, but it was still a memorable and rather extraordinary experience. N.B. I wish they had packed another chocolate pastry that I could have a try.

We had a nice romantic escape in this very beautiful and peaceful castle. The castle will make you feel like you are travelling back in time, while the service ensure a modern and effortless experience. We had a nice drink in the garden while enjoying the nature surrounding us and the relaxing noise made by a small fountain. Then we went upstairs in the Queen`s room to dine while looking at the gardens from the window. The food was delicious, as expected having the restaurant three rosettes. We especially loved the Monkfish and the milk, honey and tea dessert which in my opinion is one of the best I have ever had. I just did not want it to finish, so good! Bothi was a star and all the team was very polite and efficient. Overall a wonderful experience that I will also share on my social media. If you walk around the castle you can visit Arundel village and basically feel like you travelled back in time in the medieval times. 5 stars well deserved.

This place truly is a great place to stay. It has the charm of an old castle but it also has luxorious rooms. You can feel the history! The food in the restaurant is of high quality and the castle grounds are a beautiful place to come to rest. The putting course provides for a fun time, however it needs some updating.
