Wye Mill House occupies a listed watermill whose records trace back to the Domesday Book. In 1776 it was transformed into a Georgian residence, and it retains that heritage character alongside modern amenities. The property sits within the old mill itself, surrounded by eight acres of grounds, with a train station within walking distance and direct rail links to Canterbury and London.
The layout offers flexibility for larger groups or families. Five double bedrooms are spread across the upper floors—two have en-suites, and one includes additional single beds plus a balcony area. Downstairs holds a substantial dining and sitting room positioned above the river, where French doors lead onto a bridge over the mill race. A newly refurbished kitchen with York stone flooring and underfloor heating is equipped for self-catering, with a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher alongside the usual appliances. Essentials like bed linen, towels, electricity and wi-fi are included. Outside, a sitting area with garden furniture and barbecue faces the grounds (shared with the owner); private parking accommodates six cars. One well-behaved pet stays free.
The accommodation suits families, groups of friends, or anyone seeking rural space with period character. Smoking is not permitted. The Tickled Trout sits nearby for evenings out.

Jenny the hostess was lovely. She had baked some bread for us and filled the fridge with bacon eggs and milk. For a stay with character this is a must. The rooms are querky full of old furniture, a piano, ceilings and flooring all a bit un even but charming. Sat on the river you hear running water which was spa like for me. If you like the sound of running water you can sleep very well indeed. If you dont sleep at the front of the house, equally comfortable. Cant grumble about this it was very memorable for all the right reasons. I rate this 4 stars as there was only 1 shower room for the 4 rooms we rented and the outside could have been tidied up a bit, but thats just me being picky. It really was lovely, the kids and grannies loved it.
