Higham Place - The Granary
Babergh
Couples and families of four will find The Granary works well for a countryside break. This converted farm building dates from the 1800s but was renovated in 2021, combining original wooden beams with contemporary comfort. The ground floor holds an open-plan living space with wood burner, a separate dining area, and a kitchen equipped for real cooking—range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer are all here. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed, the other with two singles. There is one shower room. One dog is welcome to stay.
The property sits at the edge of a working arable farm, surrounded by countryside. The Stour River is within walking distance, and the valley qualifies as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Being on an active farm means you may hear tractors and other farm activity as part of the daily rhythm—something to factor in if you have an anxious dog. A large, partially covered courtyard provides outdoor space whatever the weather, with seating, a barbecue, table tennis and table football. A car can be parked on site. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and heating are included; initial logs for the wood burner are provided too. No smoking is permitted inside. Check-in is after 4pm and checkout before 9am.
