About Bakewell Camping and Caravanning Club Site
Perched on sloping countryside just outside Youlgreave, this deliberately low-key Camping and Caravanning Club site trades facilities for views – wide panoramas sweep across the Derbyshire Dales from grass and hardstanding pitches spread across open farmland. The back-to-basics approach is intentional: there's no permanent toilet block, which keeps the feel genuinely rural, though chemical disposal points and motorhome services are provided alongside club Wi-fi, a play area for children, and a dog walk. The access lane is narrow and some pitches slope noticeably, so levelling ramps are essential for caravans and motorhomes.
What it lacks in polish it gains in position. The Limestone Way runs close by, the Lathkill and Bradford valleys offer classic Peak District walking, and Bakewell's Monday market and cafés sit just a short drive away. Non-members can book and join on arrival for future member pricing – a useful option if you're planning more Club site stays across the season.

A lovely site set in the hills just outside of Youlgrave,a small village in the peak district which has 1 church and 3 pubs! The. campsite doesn't have toilets or showers but has all other services. The lady who is in charge is very friendly and helpful. Will tell you about the area, walks etc

It's a beautiful campsite in a great location set between a couple of hills. Surrounded by nature, there are plenty of birds around for any keen watcher. There's a little shop on site which is handy as my camping chair broke and I was able to purchase a new one at a reasonable price. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and always happy to help with any queries There are no facilities, but there are leisure centres 20-30 mins away where you can grab a swim/use the gym and get your shower. Located very close to the village which has a few pubs and a local shop/post office. Lovely walks all around. I will definitely visit again 💚

Always top of the agenda is first impressions and how you are greeted is a big thing, as it sets the stage for your stay ahead. The team at Bakewell were hugely welcoming and helpful from arrival to departure, from helping us to our pitch, asking if we required any assistance, to answering any questions we had during our stay. Set in beautiful surroundings on a hill side with a mix of grass and hard standing pitches - with or without electric. The grass pitches are uneven as is the nature of a sloping site, but the use of levers soon sorts this. As per other reviews, yes there are no toilets, which an way is an advantage, as the site doesn't feel over crowded like other C&CC sites and attracts a different type of camper/caravanner. The route in for the last mile of so is tricky and this is because you have to negotiate the village of Youlgreave, and the lane down past the church and river which attracts tourists who park along the side of the road in restricted areas. However saying this we made it though ok and lived to tell the tale!

Booked here for 1 night in our camper van. Have to admit when we booked we didn’t realise there was no toilet, shower or washing up facilities until we watched a video after booking. But we were equipped enough to be ok and for 1 night it wasn’t a problem. We were going to be late checking in and the site manager rang us to check we were coming and to give direction for when we arrived. When we arrived, we were given a map of the site and shown to our pitch. As we were only there 1 night we didn’t have a good look around the site. However what we saw was lovely. The site was well maintained and clean. The grass was cut short and looked lush. We chose to pitch on grass with electric. The pitches were a good size and plenty of space between each pitch. There’s a little shop at reception and the site is dog friendly. Tbh I can’t fault the site. However the extra luxury would have been to have the toilet and shower facilities etc On your way to the site however the road is very narrow so in places it was a little precarious and I prayed we’d not meet anyone coming the other way ha ha - we were lucky too! You had to vacate your pitch by 12 noon so it was nice to have a lay in. Only 1 night but we thoroughly enjoyed our surroundings. We look forward to coming back here.
