About Wild Camping at Barkerfields Farm
Tucked into the heart of the Peak District, this back-to-basics working farm site is a proper walkers' paradise. Footpaths fan out in every direction: half an hour brings you to Lathkill Dale's waterfalls, ten minutes reaches the atmospheric Magpie Mine, or strike out for longer loops to Deep Dale Nature Reserve or Thornbridge Hall's brewery. Bakewell—home of the famous pudding—is an hour and a half on foot or five minutes by car, while Monyash village (25 minutes' walk) offers two pubs and a tearoom for breakfast or ice cream.
Facilities are deliberately simple: portable loos serviced several times daily, cold running water for washing up, and cars parked separately to keep the level camping field peaceful. Homemade cakes are often available on site, and there are farm-themed activities on selected dates. Expect some farmyard sounds—it's a working operation—but the trade-off is genuine tranquillity and spectacular scenery. Campfires and barbecues allowed; kites and drones are not. A brilliant, unpretentious base for Peak District adventuring.

The campsite itself is lovely. Fantastic views and setting. The owner seems helpful and great. Facilities are basic - toilets, tap and a small washing up station but it's not pretending to be anything else. As others said most of it is sloping but not too bad. They rent fire pits and sell firewood. The problem is the people - we came for the late May bank holiday weekend, and there were one or two massive groups with music and noise into the night. Most people there were great, but the selfish few ruin it for everyone. Such a shame as well as otherwise it's such a peaceful, calming place. Maybe if you come here midweek or during quieter times it will be better.

Not a single walking trail around the area, got to go by car to get to them, campsite is on a hill, grass is very long, toilets are very basic, gaps where people can see you, couldnt find the owner to buy firewood, should be £6 MAX per night, very noisy people partying keeping us awake till gone 3am, nice view atleast, but absoloutly nothing around no shops, no busses atall. A pub just over a mile away which cost a leg and and a arm. Left a day early because we couldnt find the owner to buy firewood.

Absolutely stunning location and would definitely stay again. Only facilities are toilets , water and chemical toilet disposal. The walks are incredible. Highly recommend for a peaceful get away

Brilliant location for walking lathkill & local area. Mostly flat, although it was early in the season & a bit slippery when getting off the site the owner helped & couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. Toilets nice & clean & somewhere to empty toilet waste
