About Cae Lal

Seven miles from Snowdonia National Park's edge, this family-run meadow site near Bangor delivers proper Welsh tranquility with a thoughtful twist. Pitches are mown in circular clearings across marshy ground alive with birdsong, butterflies and the odd hare—there's generous space between each, so privacy comes naturally. Well-behaved dogs are welcome year-round (on leads), and the insulated communal barn becomes the social heart after dark, packed with sofas, games and books, with bonfires lit outside come sunset. Nearby woodland trails thread through dreamy stone walls and steps.

The standout extra is the wild spa—woodfired hot tub, sauna, cold plunge pool and holistic therapy cabin (additional fee)—which guests consistently praise alongside hot, powerful showers stocked with local eco-products. Composting and flushing loos, a well-equipped washing-up kitchen and charging points round out the facilities. Kids can den-build using natural materials or explore the site's wildlife-rich corners. A supermarket sits five minutes' drive away, handy for stocking up before family bike rides into the surrounding hills.

Had a terrific couple of nights here staying in one of their meadow pitches. The perfect combination of creature comforts and being away in nature. The hosts Bethan and Adam were lovely to meet, and we're very impressed with the setup and how it uses green renewable techniques. Highlight of the site for me would be having my breakfast cup of tea with Barn swallows swooping centimetres above my head. Location is very convenient for exploring the local area also. Definitely going to be back again at some point.

What a fantastic campsite! Surrounded by trees, it's full of character and laid back vibes, with all the ethos you'd hope for from a Greener Camping club site. Super friendly and helpful owners make it a site we'd definitely return to. Oh, and the showers - best Camping showers we've ever used, for sure! A great location and easy to find. Diolch yn fawr iawn, Bethan and Adam

This is our second time visiting which tells you everything. The site is clean, well organised, and the facilities are excellent! The owners are super helpful and will always go out of their way to help. The showers are excellent, and the fact eco-products are supplied is a bonus. We were very lucky with the weather, which made everything perfect.
