Smugglers Riding School

I went here today for the first time for an hour midday hack. It was perfect! The people who work there are so sweet and kind. The horses are beautiful and really well cared for. I rode Blue and she was a dream, great for confidence building as she's a happy slow plodder. The 1 hour route was lovely as well, really pretty. Good quality tack as well. the reins were super soft rubber. So no finger rubbing. I will definitely be spending more time here!

Smugglers Equestrian Centre is a gem. The facilities are top-notch and the atmosphere is super welcoming. The instructors are patient, highly skilled, and great at building your confidence regardless of your level. ​Most importantly, the horses are clearly very well-loved and beautifully cared for. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, I can’t recommend this place enough.

I absolutely love these stables! I am an adult rider returning to lessons after a 30 year break. My instructor Amber is fab, helping me gain confidence and gently challenging me. I whole heartedly believe the well being of the horses are their priority. The stables offer all kinds of classes for any competency level of rider. With lots of fun days in-between.

Worst experience ..i was excited to attend a beginners adult group lesson wanting to learn to ride having only ridden once in my life 25 years ago, on arrival the instructor did not greet me or speak to me for the whole hour, there was no greeting. Due to the weather the class changed to a hack for an hour, i was told this by the young staff who helped me mount i had no communication from the instructor and was put on a large horse unled with no clue what i was doing. On the ride the instructor spent the hour mostly texting or looking at her phone leading a group of unexperienced beginners on roads through wooded areas with no brief or conversation beforehand stopping only occasionally to check we were all still there. When we arrived back again zero communication I had to ask if it was over. A horrible experience, I later emailed a complaint to the riding school where they replied with excuses and blamed the heat with no real accountability or apology . If you are new to riding I would not recommend this stable there no customer service or real care for health and safety it ruined the experience for me and is clearly all about money. (The Only saving grace were the young staff helping to mount and unmount, they were lovely )
