A 5-star family-run park in Llanaber with wide views over Cardigan Bay

About Trawsdir Touring Caravans and Camping

Trawsdir occupies a hillside site just north of Barmouth in Llanaber, within Eryri National Park, and makes the most of its position with sweeping views out over Cardigan Bay and the Llŷn Peninsula from many of its pitches. It's a long-standing, family-run park with a 5-star Visit Wales rating, offering glamping pods alongside traditional touring and camping pitches. Reviewers consistently praise the friendly, helpful owners and the immaculate facilities, though a few note that the access road can be narrow and challenging for larger outfits.

The park's own dog walking field, launderette, and on-site shop make it a practical base for a longer stay, while Barmouth beach, harbour and railway station are just a short drive or walk away. The setting is quieter and greener than a seafront site, with fields and hedgerows giving it a proper countryside feel despite being minutes from the coast. Its position on high ground keeps it sheltered from coastal weather while still delivering some of the best sunset views over the bay of any site in the area.

We had two nights at this beautiful family run site as a pre wedding getaway and it was fantastic. I requested a seaview pitch and the lovely Linda was waiting for us on arrival to say “ you asked for a seaview, I have got you a seaview!” We were even offered a choice of pitch. The site is spotless, very clean showers, a brilliant safe dog field and spectacular views out to sea. There is also a fantastic restaurant/bar - Dylan’s is you want to eat out on the doorstep. Brilliant base to tour the west coast’s stunning beaches and villages. There is a sister site across the road that grants access to the beach. Linda was brilliant, very knowledgeable and an asset to the site. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Sorry I can only leave 5 stars. The site is nicely located away but not too far away from the hustle and bustle. The whole site is immaculately maintained, the shower/ toilets are spotless. The shop is small but stocks the right balance of items needed without having to travel miles for, such as every day essentials and the little things you forgot to bring with you. All the above however is surpassed by the site staff, they are the most friendly and helpful people I have met on a campsite.

our first time camping was an unforgettable adventure. The location was beautiful, with views or the sea, fresh air Everything was very clean and well organized, which made the experience comfortable and relaxing. The there were also very helpful and friendly, always ready to answer questions and give support when needed. Spending time in nature and sleeping under the stars made the trip feel magical
