About The Royal
The Royal is a traditional family and dog-friendly pub with ten rooms above the bar, refurbished in 2021 to bring spacious, traditional rooms up to a modern standard while keeping the building's character. It sits on King Edward Street in the centre of Barmouth, within 500 metres of both the beach and the railway station.
Downstairs, the pub has two bars, shows live sport, and often has live music at weekends, making it one of the livelier places to stay in town rather than a quiet retreat. Rooms include standard, budget, superior and twin options, plus a family room, all with en-suite bathrooms and breakfast included in the rate.
Run by hosts Yvonne and Mark, it suits visitors who want a proper pub atmosphere alongside their accommodation, with easy walking access to the harbour, shops and seafront.

Really friendly guy showed us to our room. Fantastic room and bathroom. Great we got to pick what we want for bfast (really nice it was too) and the option of having it in our room. Side door worked well. Had dinner there, wasn’t great tbh. Everything else was lovely! Would return

We had two excellent meals at the Royal. Cameron, our server, did a great job and remembered us when we went back. Food was delicious, fresh, great portions and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed a Sunday roast along with these dishes a few days later. Well done everyone 👍

The Staff, and food were brilliant, staff very friendly. I would give it a 5 star based on staff and food but it's the customers who bought it down. Dogs standing on tables. Dogs being fed on tables. I am a dog lover but they should never be on chairs or tables in a food establishment. It would also be nice if Dogs were kept to the bar area not in a restaurant. I have children who have been bitten and 1 is now very scared of dogs, some started barking and growling and it scared her, should not have to deal with this in a restaurant and so unhygienic letting them on tables. Has put me off visiting again.

Went with family for a special occasion last night, waited over an hour for our food but unfortunately when it arrived 2 of the meals were wrong and the waiter that brought them out decided to pick up the chips off plates with his hands ! We refused to eat an sent them back. We were not offered replacements and was given our money back for the 2 meals that were not what we ordered. Totally unacceptable spoiled the evening and despite asking to speak to a manager we were given a number to call an speak to the owner. No apology no complimentary drink nothing just rude staff that should not even work in this industry. I’ve worked in hospitality myself and the way we were treated was appalling. I would absolutely never return and I would advice anyone who wants a nice family meal out to AVOID this place.
