About Bishopsgate House Hotel

Bishopsgate House Hotel occupies an eighteenth-century Georgian townhouse believed to have been built as a dower house, and it has been run by the same family since 1999, a continuity that shows in its settled, personal style of service. The building's period features remain intact, including a Chinese Chippendale staircase considered one of the finest of its kind in the country.

With just nine guest rooms, the hotel keeps a small-scale, attentive feel, and its restaurant and bar have picked up local recognition over the years, including awards for both the hotel and its food at the Anglesey Tourism Awards. Free Wi-Fi, free parking and a relaxed pace suit guests looking for a quieter stay than the seafront's bigger hotels offer.

Its Church Street position keeps the castle, town walls, gaol and pier all within a short stroll, making it a practical, well-placed choice for a Beaumaris break without a car being essential.

Stayed 2 nights. Hotel has an old school feel. We loved it. Didn't have an evening meal and ate out. Could do with a lick of paint here and there but what hotel couldn't. Good location on the main street with the hotel having its own car park at the rear. Breakfast and staff really good as well. Haven't had a grapefruit at breakfast for years, so that was a nice twist. Breakfast cooked to order.

Found this gem through travelzoo and a desire to revisit Anglesey and North Wales, Fabulous place, really cosy areas to sit by fires , Hazel and all her staff were outstanding hosts and the rooms are cosy and comfy with everything you could possibly need. In the mornings the breakfast was delicious, with lots of choice and all freshly cooked. The hotel itself is right next to the sea and in the heart of the pretty town of Beaumaris, which was a real delight. Highly recommend the Liverpool arms next door for food, also superb, many thanks Hazel, we will be back.

We stayed for two nights in Room 4, the attic room, at Bishopsgate House Hotel. The room was a good size and clean, although it felt a little tired and could benefit from some refurbishment. The bathroom was spacious, clean, and equipped with a bathtub and an electric shower over the bath. The bed was unusually high, but it was comfortable and we slept well on the first night. Unfortunately, our second night was disrupted by very noisy guests in the room next door who were shouting and slamming doors until the early hours of the morning. As there is no overnight reception or staff presence at the hotel, there was nobody available to address the issue at the time. We informed staff when checking out. The hotel restaurant was closed during the weekend of our stay, but the breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. As expected from a smaller hotel, the breakfast selection was fairly limited, with cereals, yoghurts, fruit juices, a full English breakfast (no vegetarian or vegan options), and options such as poached or scrambled eggs. The juices appeared to be from cartons rather than freshly squeezed. The location is excellent, situated on a street with plenty of shops, cafés, and restaurants within easy walking distance. The staff were friendly and pleasant throughout our stay. Overall, while there were some positive aspects, particularly the location and breakfast, the noise disturbance and lack of overnight staff meant that we would not choose to stay here again.

Lovely and quaint hotel. We were given a four poster room. Tea/coffee/chocolate/sherry in the room. We paid £170 for a Friday night including breakfast. Handy having a carpark. Room was comfortable and breakfast nice. Possibly would have liked a bigger breakfast as it was on the small side. Staff very nice and hotel dog was just gorgeous!! We shall certainly be back.
