About An Old Rectory

An Old Rectory occupies a red-brick Victorian former rectory on the Malone Road, one of south Belfast's most established residential streets, a short bus or taxi ride from the city centre and close to Queen's University and the Ulster Museum. The house retains a domestic, homely character rather than feeling like a converted hotel, with a handful of individually decorated rooms.

Breakfast is the property's best-known feature, a lengthy menu running well beyond the standard Ulster fry to include options such as smoked salmon and eggs, and it is regularly cited by guests as a reason to choose the property over larger central hotels.

The Malone Road and adjoining Stranmillis area offer a quieter, tree-lined alternative to staying in the centre, with the Botanic Gardens, Ulster Museum and a good run of independent cafes and restaurants all within easy walking distance.

My wife and I came to Belfast with our 2 month old to visit family and relax. We loved our stay. Gerry the head chef is a lovely man and all our food for breakfast both days was gorgeous. The house is old (obviously) but well maintained. We had two very comfortable nights here and the location is great. We would definitely stay there again.

Could not have been more perfect. The host, Gerry is a total gem! Brilliant historic structure. Loved the sitting room and fireplace. Over the top and delicious made-to-order breakfast every morning. The place was cozy, yet spotlessly clean. So warm and hospitable. Gerry helped me plan out my adventures, and gave me lots of tips, ideas, and helpful hints along the way. Beautiful, upscale neighborhood. Got a room with a lovely bathtub! Large room, adorable bathroom, and bed was so comfortable, I slept like a baby. Gorgeous views out my windows. An Old Rectory epitomizes my vision of Irish charm. Bus going into the city center is just across the street and the bus coming back drops you off right at the driveway! So convenient! Anyone going to Belfast or the surrounding areas should book a room here! Loved every minute of my stay! Thank you for making my stay in Northern Ireland such a special one, Gerry!

Charming old building full of treasures including Gerry; a real gem! This is a B&B from a bygone era. Wonderful food and easily accommodated my gluten sensitivity. Great location (quiet) and on bus routes. We called to make our reservation and paid cash when checking out. We loved it!

We landed in Belfast on Mary's doorstep and felt immediately at home. After a warm welcome we settled into our comfortable, spacious room with large windows, delightful bathroom and sleep-inducing beds. All the amenities were taken care of and we loved the location. Close enough to walk into Belfast if you wish or take the bus with stops just outside the door. The rectory is a wonderful old place and is full of character. Our breakfast each day was delicious and hot! We really felt like friends instead of guests. Mary was most helpful with tourist information and was so personable. We will stay again on our next visit!
