I should have read googles reviews before booking this place, it had a 5 out of 10 on booking.com and I thought for £39 for a room that a score of 5 is fine for the price. The front door was insecure, there was supernoodles all over the entry hall, I had the ground floor room and it was basic but fine for the price. The big light didnt work but there was a lamp. The kitchen which was adjacent was an absolute mess, food everywhere, cigarette butt's in the sink and on the floor, empty beer bottles left sitting, used laundry on the floor. The bathroom was upstairs, wasn't bad. There are posters advertising WiFi but it doesnt exist. My main issue came when what appeared to be a homeless person let themselves in and slept snoring on the couch in the kitchen, then watched the tv blaring in the kitchen which was so loud I couldn't hear my own movie I was watching on my tablet. When I went to bed the movement seemed to wake up the cockroaches that were sleeping underneath and by that time, it was too late to find another hotel. In the morning, I went to use the one and only bathroom and the door was locked, it sounded like the snoring homeless woman had moved in there for the night. One of the other residents said the bathroom had been locked all night. Please listen to the reviews and dont book this place, it will become your worst booking ever.

I highly advise anybody seeing this review and thinking this will be a nice cheap place to stay not to bother booking. Trust me you will get sick and you will be cold and it is unsafe. PLEASE READ THE OTHER REVIEWS do not make our mistake. I can guarantee that this place was not cleaned and sheets were not washed, not to mention windows do not close properly and handles are broken/missing.Front door of the building doesn't lock, our room had a bathroom, but you will have to steal some toilet paper from the toilet downstairs as there was none in our room bathroom. Bedroom lights didn’t work, bathroom light wasn’t working and the cover was hanging off so wires were exposed. Double socket right next to shower. Room curtains didn’t fully close, blinds didn’t close or open so if you were changing you had to use phone flash light. Room door lock was hanging off and definitely not secure so had to use a chair to keep door shut. Front door claims to be opened by a key in locked box but at all times the door was unlocked snd never a key in site. If you stay here you are asking to get sick, my friend woke up the next day and had gotten sick despite being fine days before and now fine after leaving this place. Not too mention when we booked there was no indication that this place was for 25+ until we had booked it, probably a scam. Thankfully we contacted the owners and had proof they said we could stay. Do not stay here. Do not risk your health. And most certainly do not risk your safety for a night out or cheap stay, or atleast not this cheap stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE. BnB81 is run by scam artists. I booked through booking.com, and BnB81 informed me afterwards of house rules they did not list on booking.com which meant I could no longer stay there. I have reached out 3 separates times about a refund and have been given zero response.

**TRADING ILLEGALLY** Well, that's been... err... interesting? Safe to say my expectations were low given the price, but if anyone is ever tempted to book BnB81 in Belfast through booking.com, don't. I think the "81" in the name is not just the house number, it commemorates the last time anyone cleaned the place in 1981. It's not a B&B it's a hostel, and not the sort young people young people use when they go back packing, the sort you get sent to buy the local authority as an emergency measure. I thought there was only one other resident (a delightful chap with mobility issues who it transpired was indeed homeless) but later on in the evening it appeared that it was a popular night spot for Belfast's apparently burgeoning cockroach population (who knew that was a thing?). I'd just about managed to dismiss the ridiculously low level of maintenance (broken window locks/handles, damaged electrical sockets, exposed wiring, nonfunctional blinds, locks hanging off doors). I told myself that my security concerns (insecure locks internally and a fairly rickety key safe on the front door) were an overreaction. I'd convinced myself it wasn't QUITE as filthy as I thought it was, and that I might be imagining the unusual smell. However, the roaches were just too much. It was too late to sort anything else out, and I briefly thought it might be safer on a bench in the local park (then I remembered I was helpfully located between the New Lodge estate and the Shankill Road). When I contacted the owners (there's no one on site) they moved me into another room (which didn't have a private bathroom, we won't even get into the state of the communal bathroom/toilets etc.). Helpful, as well all know cockroaches are famed for their inability to move about/spread. Oh well, lesson learned. Anyway, has anyone ever seen the film Delicatessen? Don't know why that sprang to mind.
