What visitors say

Pilgrims Place

This is all about the gardens. There isn't much to see at the house as most of it is lived in. The gardens are very interesting but you need to be steady on your feet as there are many uneven steps and not many hand rails. You can be in China one minute then Egypt the next. Walking through a rugged glen and over a metal bridge and watching the large goldfish in the lake. Plenty to explore and enjoy. Had a lovely day out.

Wet windy day at Biddulph Grange but had a great visit. Very lucky to find free tickets so if you are wanting to visit some of the National Trust sites for free then go to National Lottery Free Entry terms and conditions apply. We used a couple of scratch cards that we had brought today, this is running until the 14th or 15th March so you havent alot of time left. Parking at this location was also free so for a day's visit you cant beat it. So if your not in time to avail this free offer then you could pay at the entrance @ £14 adults price the other alternative is to buy a Years membership @ £168 for a couple so you would need to visit 5 to 6 places over a year to get value. As this Is the 1st National Trust site we have visited we are definitely considering a membership as there's so many places to visit and with this there are some great perks like free parking at many of the sites. As we made our way around we met up with Christine who guided us around the China garden and up to the Egypt garden for a personal tour which was amazing. Christine was hive of knowledge on the building and the gardens we learnt so much in such a short amount of time so one big thankyou to this wonderful lady. As we are just coming out of the winter the gardens wernt in full bloom so there's a big reason to return to see the gardens in all its glory. Onsite you'll find toilets, gift shop and a nice cafe. There's also a section where you can purchase potted plants. All in all what a great visit, from the fantastic staff to the well kepted gardens we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Biddulph gardens for a visit. Big thankyou to National Lottery and the National Trust for making it possible to visit for free I'm sure many would appreciate such a generous offer.

What a fantastic place! The gardens are a delight, covering a huge area. There are dozens of individual, themed, gardens to explore. Each one has its own wow factor. The gardeners are out in force, ensuring everything looks immaculate. All the staff we met were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. An absolute gem of a place. Thank-you for a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Absolutely lovely gardens , but not for the less sure footed. We climbed steps went in cottages, walked through a stumpery, and visited an Egyptian tomb. Plus a fascinating geological walk. The only disappointment was as with all National trust properties there were really awful Gluten free options. I did take a picnic for myself but had to wrangle over being allowed to eat it at one of their tables. We did buy drinks.
