About The Jersey Arms
Middleton Stoney puts golf courses, fishing spots and horse riding within easy reach, and there's no shortage of pubs and restaurants nearby for evenings out. The Jersey Arms makes a practical base for exploring this part of Oxfordshire, with free on-site parking for those arriving by car and enough on the doorstep to keep active guests occupied.
The hotel has 20 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, and guests can order drinks brought straight to their door. A restaurant and bar are on site, along with breakfast service, free WiFi and a garden for quieter moments. Facilities extend to meeting rooms, a bridal suite and wedding hosting, plus laundry service, luggage storage and 24 hour reception, and pets are welcome to stay too.
Staff are consistently described as friendly, and the WiFi and clean linens hold up well by most accounts. That said, some rooms have been reported as tired in places, and the bar is not always staffed when wanted, so it's worth checking ahead if that matters to your stay. For the price, it remains a convenient stopover for the area's outdoor pursuits.
What guests say
Staff were nice and polite, but the place feels run down and neglected. The room we paid for cost £100 and was a standard double. It looked nothing like the lovely photos online, the door needed a shoulder barge to open, the bed was tilting down at the head end, the kettle was on the floor and there were ants in the bathroom. The receptionist was happy to swap rooms and moved us to a ‘superior’ room, which was only superior in size. My photos reflect the general dirt and neglect although the bedding was clean and there was no dust on bedside tables or windowsills. The toilet didn’t flush properly either so unfortunately they will have an unwelcome surprise to deal with! The room was advertised with free breakfast, although it was not clear what this included until we arrived for breakfast. If you are wondering, it is a selection of cereals and toast. Pastries in individual packets, tea, coffee and juice. My vegan friend had some dry toast as there were no milk or butter alternatives.

Absoloute horror! first of all we walked in and my auntie got stung by a wasp! WARNING in room 10 there are thousands of wasps on the top of the door and she has had a hard time. after we walked into the room and i went for a bathroom break and found a dirty slug on the bath! i mean outside i’d understand but inside? inhumane. absoloute shame. Very cheap and i understand why it’s so cheap! it’s raggedy and was supposed to stay three nights but stayed 2 because of how uncomfortable i felt and how uncomfortable my family felt. just before leaving we found multiple Beetles roaming around. Personally i’d class that as illegal behaviour. overall tati experience and it was embarrassing!

Positives: Affordable and conveniently located for a short stay in Bicester to attend an events Minimal interaction with staff, but they were friendly. Good WiFi. A little dusty in places but our room was mostly very clean. It’s a cheap hotel - don’t expect luxury Negatives: the bed had a broken spring and wasn’t very comfortable. The heating kicked in early morning despite it being a heatwave with temps up to 30c. The photos online are not a true representation of the hotel. There is no kitchen or bar, breakfast was cereal, toast, pre packaged pastries.

No restaurant as advertised, the nearest restaurant is 2.5 miles away at the Shakespeare in Bicester. No pub bar as advertised. The nearest pub bar is either the Red Cow or the Shakespeare both around 2.5 miles away. No cooked breakfast as advertised, just a cold continental breakfast available. The stairways and corridors looked grimy and had lots of dead flies on the windowsills. The door to room 9 could be opened when it was locked so we asked for a more secure room and was given a different room that had cracked glass in the windows and had broken window blinds that didn't work at all. The owner was nice and polite. The bed linen was clean. The free wi-fi worked okay. This is a basic place to stay if you need accommodation for a couple of nights.
