About The Saltley Inn

The Saltley Inn suits travellers after simple, affordable accommodation rather than a polished city hotel stay - visiting family in Washwood Heath, working nearby, or just needing a comfortable base with easy access into Birmingham. It's a snug inn built around a proper pub feel, with a restaurant and bar downstairs and a beer garden for warmer evenings.

Rooms are warm and straightforward, with en-suite bathrooms, family rooms available, free WiFi and drinks available in room. Breakfast is served on site, and packed lunches can be arranged for those heading out early. A games room adds something to do without leaving the building, and reception operates around the clock, so arrival times are flexible.

There's free on-site parking, useful given the inn's location just off Washwood Heath Road. A golf course, pubs, bars, restaurants and other eateries are all nearby, along with local entertainment options, making it easy to fill an evening without travelling far from the inn itself.

Checked in with my partner, had to wait for the cleaner to get our room clean, it’s obviously not a hotel hotel, but you still expect it to be clean and comfortable to be in, but that was a no go for me and my partner. We was walking upstairs to our room there was toilet paper all around the corridors, bottles, beers, maybe we thought she was going to clean it so we didn’t think anything of it. The second we opened our door to our room it absolutely stunk in there, there was no air con in the room during the heatwave which was terrible. Every other hotel that I’ve been to with my partner regardless of the weather there had always been an aircon, we was struggling to breathe in the room, no space, the shower was dirty the tap water stunk like the canals outside. It was terrible! The service was horrendous on top of that too, my partner went downstairs to buy us some food, but she said “ no because it’s too hot” im sorry but you don’t go into a chip shop that is opened and you want to get served they don’t tell you “ no it’s too hot” 😂!! Be for real!! Take care of your customers that are staying over night! The bed was dirty, pubic hair on the pillows, and stains. There was no actual bed sheet on the bed, just a small cover on the mattress and that was it. So she didn’t really clean it. We could smell cannabis from other rooms and it was spreading right into our room. There were people screaming, dancing having sex with opened doors for everyone to see! I usually hate checking out early from hotels but I couldn’t wait to check out even earlier this time! We had to go outside to get ourselves something to eat because of how poor the service was, i don’t recommend people with children to come here it’s vile. The room also smelt like cigarettes buying an air freshener didn’t even help it. It felt like we was just there to listen to people having sex and on top of that walking past it due to them having doors opened, and not being treated well and the way you have to check out through back doors, totally sketchy. Staff are totally unprofessional. Waited an hour for us to get a glass of water even though there was no people in line in the bar. It’s a run up hotel in a pub definitely not worth the stay. Back to the beginning, cleaning lady ended up not cleaning the corridor as we were leaving, if your going to run a business run it properly without people doing stuff they aren’t supposed to do. Thank God we had places to be during our stay so we wasn’t there all day but it was disgusting.🤢!!! And treat your customers well, instead of ignoring them. Cheap and disgusting😂. Small tv, old, dusty, with old channels programmed into it, no YouTube etc. Run the business better rather than throwing your customers into a dirt whole.

Was in town for two nights and needed somewhere cheap but clean to rest. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy for the price, especially since it’s above a pub. I was pleasantly surprised with how cosy it was! We stayed in room 21 and didn’t hear the pub downstairs. There’s no lift, which was fine for us but definitely worth keeping in mind if you rely on them or plan on travelling heavy. The room itself was clean and the staff were so friendly! I highly recommend this wee gem and would definitely stay here again whenever we’re back in town. Thank you!!

Hotel is in very sketchy area and doesnt have onsite parking. Rooms are clean is about the only positive thing I can really say, tv turns on but wont find a channel, hotel internet is advertised but not available and my dog has a more comfy bed than the other one on this twin. Really hope my tools are still in my van when I leave tomorrow.
