About Holiday Inn Express Birmingham Star City
Walk into a room at Holiday Inn Express Birmingham Star City and the first thing you notice is the space - rooms here run larger than you'd expect from a budget-focused hotel, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, and a spot to make use of the free WiFi. Family rooms and accessible rooms are available across the hotel's four floors, served by a lift, and some rooms come with drinks provided. That said, not every room has been kept in top condition, and a few show their age with wear that a refresh would fix.
Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar for evening meals, and breakfast includes a proper hot spread alongside the usual continental options. Packed lunches and kids' meals can be arranged, useful for anyone heading out for the day, and the on-site team has a reputation for being helpful when you need something sorted. Meeting rooms and business services are on hand for anyone travelling for work, and pets are welcome too.
The hotel sits on Cuckoo Rd in Birmingham, within reach of Star City and the NEC, with a golf course, pubs, restaurants, and entertainment nearby for those staying longer. Free on-site parking is available and secure, which regular visitors flag as one of the more reassuring parts of staying here.
What guests say
Lovely place, excellent staff and ideal service. I'm a proper snob when it comes to food, cleanliness and ambience and i was more than happy with the quality of it all here. Breakfast was hot, fresh and decent quality, the bedding was clean and soft and I was made to feel very welcome by the front of house team who were more than accommodating. Shout out to Claudia in particular.... The queen of IHG enrolments! Signed me up for a free IHG club membership which comes with a free snack, drink and late checkouts. Took a minute and cost me nothing whatsoever. She is friendly, funny and an asset to this hotel brand. The first time I've ever been offered a hug leaving a hotel and it made this place feel like somewhere that I could come back again and again. I came for a course but left with new friends. This was not the typical corporate hotel experience. Whoever picked this team has absolutely smashed it. Thanks

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The welcome and check in process was friendly, quick and efficient, the room was spacious, clean and serviced daily. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and fresh, and any items that were low were replenished immediately. Excellent coffee machine too, offering Mocha, Espresso etc. Parking is easy, free and secure. All the hotel staff I encountered and talked to during my week's stay were very friendly and offered excellent customer service. The location is very convenient with good connections to the centre, and Star City just across the road. I would not hesitate in returning and will recommend it to friends and family.

Basic but clean and comfortable, very quick overnight stop, checked in 10pm left 8am. Had a room on the ground floor. Not the quietest of locations due to proximity of motorway/A-road could hear some road noise but didn't impact my sleep. Basic hot breakfast buffet. Friendly service. Marked down a star for rooms because no plugs next to bedside (there were some USB ports but they weren't suitable for what I needed), and sink in bathroom didn't have a plug, so had to use one of the plastic cups when having a wet shave instead

Stayed here a couple of times when visiting Birmingham for Uni exams and I can’t fault it one bit. The staff are so friendly and kind and the breakfast options are decent. The rooms are spacious and clean and the prices are good as well. This is now my go to hotel when visiting Birmingham. ❤️
