About The Astor Hotel

Lord Street sits within easy walking distance of the Blackpool Tower and Winter Gardens, and it's on this busy stretch that The Astor Hotel makes its home. For visitors wanting a base near the seafront attractions without straying far from transport links, the location does the job well, with parking available for those arriving by car.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and many guests have found the beds comfortable and the housekeeping reliable, though some of the accommodation is on the smaller side and could do with updating. Family rooms and accessible rooms are available, and a lift serves the upper floors. Breakfast is included, and the on-site restaurant, bar and snack bar mean there's no need to head out for every meal, with drinks in room and packed lunches also on offer. Free WiFi and 24 hour reception round out the practical side of things.

Beyond the hotel, the surrounding area caters to a wide range of interests, with golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes all nearby, alongside pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues within easy reach. It's a straightforward option for anyone wanting to be close to Blackpool's main sights and out and about quickly.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my recent stay at The Astor Hotel, Blackpool, where I had booked three rooms for a two-night stay. Regrettably, the experience was profoundly disappointing and fell far below the standards advertised on your website and on Booking.com. I feel compelled to bring these issues to your attention due to the severity of the conditions encountered, which not only breached basic hospitality expectations but also caused considerable distress to my family. General Issues Upon Arrival Upon arrival, it was immediately evident that the hotel was in a state of significant disrepair. The condition of the property bore little resemblance to the promotional images online. The premises were visibly unclean, with thick layers of dust and a pervasive, unpleasant odour throughout the building, suggesting a lack of routine maintenance and hygiene. Furthermore, the listing clearly stated that on-site parking was available. This was not the case. I was forced to park my vehicle on a nearby street, which was both inconvenient and ultimately resulted in damage to my car. Room 1 – Quadruple Family Room Reception and Access: There was no receptionist present upon arrival. I was required to call a mobile number to gain access to the building. Throughout the entire stay, there was no staff presence at reception, making it extremely difficult to raise concerns or request assistance.

This place is an utter disgrace to hospitality. Let me break it down for anyone considering staying here: 1. No Reception Staff on Arrival: Upon arrival, there was literally no one at the reception. No welcome, no assistance – just silence. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. 2. Misleading Photos – Total Deception:The online pictures are grossly outdated and completely misleading. What you see online is NOT what you get. The reality is filthy, unhygienic rooms that reek of mold and neglect. A total bait-and-switch. 3. Filthy Toilets – Zero Essentials Provided: The bathroom had visible stains, no toiletries whatsoever, not even basic hand soap. It was disgusting and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time. 4. Lift Out of Order for Months – Management Doesn’t Care:The lift has apparently been broken for months, and no effort has been made to fix it. Elderly guests or those with mobility issues, beware – you’re on your own. 5. False Advertising – Missing Amenities: I was promised a wardrobe in the booking, and there was NONE. False advertising, plain and simple. 6. Health Hazard – Kettle Filled with Dirt and Insects: The so-called kettle had visible dust and dead insects inside. Absolutely revolting and a serious health concern. 7. Overcharged on Booking.com – Pricing Scam: I paid nearly £45 per night for 3 nights through Booking.com, only to find out that the real price is between £32–36. That’s a blatant rip-off and feels like I’ve been scammed. Final Verdict: This place is not just poorly managed – it’s deceptive, unhygienic, and run with zero accountability. Avoid it like the plague. Booking.com should seriously reconsider listing this property.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. No welcome inside, just a number to ring. Very dark inside the hotel, the lift was good. Our room was an eye opener! Nothing like the room we booked. Paint peeling, damp walls, dirty carpet, stains on the bathroom tiles, no hot water, curtains hanging off, small room, smellled of insence, breakfast was just scrambled egg and beans. We just didn't trust eating there not with the conditions of the hotel. Good points is that its a good location and rhe tv was good also the bed was comfy.

It's clean, staff are lovely, very well priced. But this hotel is hotter than the sun. Might actually sleep in the car for fear of death. Won't need a hair dryer, or clothes, but if you've got a portable AC bring it.
