About Dalmunzie Castle Hotel

Walkers and golfers have plenty to occupy them around Dalmunzie Castle Hotel, with a golf course on site and the surrounding Perth and Kinross hills offering routes out into open Highland country. The hotel sits along Old Military Road outside Blairgowrie, giving easy access back into town when needed but a genuine sense of remoteness once you're on the grounds.

The castle itself has 17 rooms, many with old world character and views out to the mountains, along with a lift for easier access. There's a restaurant and bar on site, breakfast included, free WiFi, air conditioning, and a garden to wander in. Pets are welcome, and free on-site parking makes it a practical base as well as a scenic one.

It also works as a wedding venue, with the turreted exterior and hill backdrop lending itself to that. Whether visiting for golf, walking, or simply a quiet stay away from the road, the setting does most of the work.

We stayed for one night. Many positives, including nice walking trails, great location, and above average food. However we had issues with the rooms. We got the Castle Suite and the Mackenzie room. Both very aesthetic and were comfortable, but during the one night we were there, both rooms had issues with bats. A bat in each room began flying around the rooms at around 11:30pm. The staff removed the one in Mackenzie but couldn't find the other one, which later began swooping around the Castle Suite room again at 3am, making sleep difficult. The rest of the castle was great, but its hard to give anything but 1 star when one of your rooms is borderline unable to be used for sleeping.

We stayed here for two nights, and rooms are clean and cozy. We found plenty to do in the surrounding area with lots of hikes. One star removed as one of the days they did not inform anyone but did not serve lunch that day? For a location that is 45 minutes from nearest restaurant, it was a bit unfortunate to find out after our 7 mile hike that there would be no food available until 6:30pm.

Perhaps some rooms were wonderful but we must have gotten literally the worst room in the hotel. When we walked into the room (Robertson) we smelled something like cat or dog urine. The furniture was maybe period but practically unusable. The basin was outside the bathroom. The carpet was very old. The bathroom was at most at the level 2 star hotel. It had ugly old bathtub, the shower that suddenly stopped working properly and had only very hot water. The experience was very unpleasant given that it is not a cheap hotel. However, and this is important, the staff was very nice. I blame the owner of the place and the management, but especially the owner.

We came up here in Feb 2026 with our baby so my husband could take advantage of the good weather for skiing. Cannot rate Dalmunzie enough for its attentive, considerate and very helpful staff who were really accommodating of us, despite having a fully booked hotel which some establishments can struggle with Dalmunzie was top of its game re service at the restaurant and reception as well. The location is perfect for Glenshee ski resort, plenty of parking and the rooms are warm and lovely. Food is delicious as well which is a bonus. Loved it here, we will be back !
