What visitors say
Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre is a very interesting place to visit. It is located right beside the dam, making it easy to see the structure up close while learning more about how it works. The centre is full of educational and interesting information about hydroelectric power, the history of the dam, and how water is used to generate electricity. It is a good place for both adults and children to understand more about renewable energy in a simple and engaging way. Overall, it is a meaningful and informative stop if you are visiting Pitlochry.

The walk along the dam offers from great views down the river and provides a nice circular walk around Pitlochry. Also offers access to the fish ladder - we didn't spot any salmon but they do have a live stream under the water so sometimes you can see them on there. Parking is free for 2 hours so if you are doing a circular route of Pitlochry it is ample time to see everything. It is also down the road from the Pitlochry market which is on one weekend each month.

My favourite place to stroll around in the autumn. Love to sit on the balcony with a soup, admiring the colours of autumn. The dam is a very old hydroplant, one of the oldest in Scotland - still fully functional with a fish tunnel for our salmons coming back home. Worth a visit for an afternoon.

Well maintained and kids can play interactive educational models and games in the visitor centre. The live underwater camera showing the movements of salmon along the fish ladder was fabulous. Highly recommended.
