Moulin Hotel

Booked a 2 night stay. The Hotel has a lovely cosy vibe to it. On arrival, staff were busy but tended to us efficiently. Given an option of time for breakfast within their window. The bedroom itself we had was a superior double and whilst dated in appearance and carpet was looking tired, it was clean and well maintained. The double bed however let this place down, it was incredibly uncomfortable and you felt every movement as if on a ship at sea. Breakfast menu was varied but you could also tweak it to your liking. Service was prompt. We didnt dine in their bar as we had plans elsewhere so can't comment on the bar food. I liked the Hotel, but due to the bed discomfort it wouldnt be a place I booked again sadly. Their showers also need upgrading with more power. To summarise, helpful staff, nice location, cosy vibe. But beds and rooms need upgrading and modernising.

A real gem of a hotel. Great pub with roaring fire, great selection of whisky and of course their own beers brewed in their micro brewery (that they are more than happy to show you round). Just a stroll away from the heart of Pitlochry, but nestled in the quieter area of Moulin. The rooms were clean but a bit dated. Given the fact that it is literally hundreds of years old I could forgive that and apparently there are plans to renovate the rooms later this year. For a small charge dogs are welcome too so brought our cockapoo and we all had a great weejend. We're definitely coming back!

Weve been going to Moulin for dinner in the pub side for around 20 years. Honestly, we feel its just gradually going downhill. It has SO much potential, but the management seem to have lost any vision of what atmosphere is/should be. The lighting is awful. They seem to have added strip or spot lights, with some bulbs ice white colour. It feels flood lit. The interior hasnt changed in years which is absolutely fine, its part of the ambience, but under flood lighting its just all wrong. Just get some warm bulbs or lower light lamps and create a warm cozy atmosphere, it really isnt tough. The food is always reliable, its definitely not got better over the years, the menu has widened but id say quality is slipping. Its a real shame, its such a gem. Its worth a visit for location and history, but sadly we dont go back often and dont take visiting friends as it falls way behind many of its competitors in the village. Happy to post a much more positive review in future if it improves. This review is not a reflection of the rooms I have never been in.

I stopped at Moulin Hotel during my trip around Scotland. Every day in this country brought me some fascinating impressions and experiences. At Moulin Hotel I loved having haggis and local beer and ale. The pub interior had a lot of wood, there was a real fire place. I loved the smell of food in combination with burning logs. Both the pub and the hotel itself give authentic vibes. Interior is decorated in tartan (and I love it), a lot of taxidermy animals, hunting and nature topics. The staff are friendly and helpful. I felt well accepted. It was a super pleasant experience for me. Thank you!
