Stainsby Mill and Hardwick Hall are National Trust properties on the estate where The Mill Cottage stands, making this detached cottage an excellent base for exploring both. The mill itself is next door; Hardwick Hall—an Elizabethan house with formal gardens and parkland—is within reach on foot or by car. The Peak District lies a short drive away. For those who simply want to stay put, the grounds here have walking paths, and the cottage garden overlooks the stream that powers the mill's water wheel.
Three bedrooms sleep eight: a double with ensuite on the ground floor, and two further doubles upstairs (one with a single bed too), plus a family bathroom. The ground floor also contains the kitchen and a spacious living room with garden views. A wood-burning stove, full kitchen equipment including a range, and heating are all included. Wi-Fi is available, and the cottage comes with parking for four cars. One well-behaved pet can stay free. A stream runs unfenced along the garden's edge.
The cottage suits families wanting to combine outdoor exploration of the estate with comfortable accommodation. Children's equipment—travel cot, highchair and stairgate—is provided. Smoking is not permitted.
