Draughton Heights Glamping Pods - Barn Owl

Photo: Draughton Heights Campsite

Draughton Heights Barn Owl suits couples after a break from routine, families wanting something different, or small groups after their own space. The pod sleeps four in a king bed and sofa bed, with a shower room and an open-plan living area that combines kitchen, dining and lounge. You have your own garden with seating, a firepit, and parking for one car on site. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are included. One dog can stay free, though the surrounding fields mean it must be kept on a lead.

The location sits between Skipton—ten minutes away with its castle, market and high street—and the moorland around Ilkley. The countryside here has unfenced ponds and open water within the grounds, so children need supervision. A fully equipped kitchen lets you cook properly rather than survive on takeaways. The pod occupies level ground throughout and you reach the entrance in a single step. The site itself is accessed via a rough track. For something beyond a standard holiday cottage, the on-site sauna can be booked separately through another operator, though that comes at extra cost. The main draw is being alone in working farmland with views down the valley, while still being close enough to town to pop into Skipton when you choose.

Perfect site to camp, quiet, amazing views, the wild swimming pool was lovely for morning and evening dips! The staff were very welcoming and even patched our tent up when it developed a rip while we were gone exploring, very accommodating and safe! Would highly recommend!

The location of this campsite is wonderful, with fabulous views and gorgeous lakes. We swam in the lake and booked a sauna in the morning too. The facilities are basic but clean. Unfortunately, however, as a group of middle aged ladies, we found Richard, the owner, extremely over bearing and inappropriate. What started out as banter (albeit quite sexual in nature) turned into him "visiting" our camp fire at numerous times throughout the evening (at least 4 times) helping himself to a camping seat(!) and discussing sexual experiences he had had in the past, making at least 3 of us (we were a group of 6 ladies) very uncomfortable and having to walk away (pretend to need the toilet etc) We tried our hardest to hint that we were there to enjoy female company and shut down conversations (he really was not welcome) but he seemed oblivious to this. I have to add, that we watched him move in his van around site and he did not visit other people's camps, just ours, which is very telling. If our husbands had been there, I'm sure his behaviour would have been different. I found it very threatening and creepy. I feel sorry for his wife. And for this reason I personally will not be returning.

It was our 1st night in the camper van we thoughly enjoyed it.. From arriving through the gates you could see the campers motorhome and tents and the 3 beautiful lakes. We were met by the owners who were very welcoming he told us pitch up where ever you want there was plenty of space to have your own privacy once we looked around there was every thing you needed to camp out. Showers toilets kitchen area and everything was spotlessley clean.. Washing machines dryers kettle in the kitchen area large garden games for the kids to play. They have a private woods for the campers only which tales you to Skipton Overall 10 /10

Just spent 4 nights here. A fantastic site. Great facilities. Great location. Lovely friendly hosts. And if you enjoy a wild swim this place is perfect. This was our second lads holiday (we came last year ) and will definitely be returning again. Well done 👍
