Draughton Heights Glamping Pods - Curlew

Photo: Draughton Heights Campsite

Skipton's market and castle lie ten minutes away by car, while Ilkley's moorland walks and spa facilities are fifteen minutes further. The Yorkshire Dales themselves open up from here—this is proper walking country, and the pod sits at the edge of it rather than in some manicured zone. The setting involves a rough track to reach the site, and there are unfenced ponds on the grounds, so this suits people who come for the landscape and don't need hand-holding.

Draughton Heights Curlew is a single-bedroom glamping pod sleeping four. The main space combines living and dining on an open plan, with a sofa bed and smart TV for downtime. The kitchen has a gas cooker and fridge, so proper meals are possible. One kingsize bed occupies the bedroom; the shower room is compact but complete. Outside, you get your own sitting area with furniture and a firepit. One dog can stay free, though the surrounding sheep country means they must stay on a lead. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; heating is LPG central. Parking for one car sits on site.

Beyond your own space, the site has shared facilities including washers, dryers, extra freezer space, showers and toilets managed on an honesty-box system. The natural ponds allow for wild swimming if you fancy it. A mobile wood-fired sauna can be booked separately for added indulgence. The whole property is yours alone—no shared pods, no communal living enforced.

Perfect site to camp, quiet, amazing views, the wild swimming pool was lovely for morning and evening dips! The staff were very welcoming and even patched our tent up when it developed a rip while we were gone exploring, very accommodating and safe! Would highly recommend!

The location of this campsite is wonderful, with fabulous views and gorgeous lakes. We swam in the lake and booked a sauna in the morning too. The facilities are basic but clean. Unfortunately, however, as a group of middle aged ladies, we found Richard, the owner, extremely over bearing and inappropriate. What started out as banter (albeit quite sexual in nature) turned into him "visiting" our camp fire at numerous times throughout the evening (at least 4 times) helping himself to a camping seat(!) and discussing sexual experiences he had had in the past, making at least 3 of us (we were a group of 6 ladies) very uncomfortable and having to walk away (pretend to need the toilet etc) We tried our hardest to hint that we were there to enjoy female company and shut down conversations (he really was not welcome) but he seemed oblivious to this. I have to add, that we watched him move in his van around site and he did not visit other people's camps, just ours, which is very telling. If our husbands had been there, I'm sure his behaviour would have been different. I found it very threatening and creepy. I feel sorry for his wife. And for this reason I personally will not be returning.

It was our 1st night in the camper van we thoughly enjoyed it.. From arriving through the gates you could see the campers motorhome and tents and the 3 beautiful lakes. We were met by the owners who were very welcoming he told us pitch up where ever you want there was plenty of space to have your own privacy once we looked around there was every thing you needed to camp out. Showers toilets kitchen area and everything was spotlessley clean.. Washing machines dryers kettle in the kitchen area large garden games for the kids to play. They have a private woods for the campers only which tales you to Skipton Overall 10 /10
