About Arnos Manor Hotel
Bath Road runs busy through this part of Bristol, but Arnos Manor Hotel sits back from the traffic with its own garden, giving the grounds a calmer, greener feel than the address might suggest. It's a well-placed base for exploring the city, with Lawrence Hill within a couple of miles and Weston Seaquarium among the local points of interest.
The hotel has 73 rooms, generally described as clean and roomy, though some are showing their age and can pick up noise from the road or corridors. Guests have access to a restaurant and bar, breakfast each morning, free WiFi, and a lift for easier access to upper floors. Staff are consistently noted for being friendly, helpful and professional, which goes some way to making up for the tired decor in places.
Free on-site parking is a practical plus for anyone arriving by car, and the property also welcomes pets and hosts weddings, with luggage storage available for those breaking up a longer journey. It's a straightforward, good-value option for visiting Bristol rather than a destination in itself.
What guests say
The hotel is well located for the city centre, £10 - £15 in a taxi to centre on a busy night. The hotel itself is becoming a little more shabby sadly, everytime we visit. Rooms: could be cleaned a little bit better. There was a bottle top left on the skirting board area. Bathroom was ok, cups etc looked clean and so were the towels - I always wash the cups anyway before we use them. Bed was comfy and clean. Ironing board was broken and the iron leaked so I had to ring to get them replaced. Once I got through, the replacement set arrived within 10 - 15 minutes, with apologies from the very pleasant member of staff. We didn't eat in the restaurant as the menu was a bit limited, and our friends who did weren't really impressed with the food they received. Bar was being cashed up at at 11, and couldn't get a drink at the bar as we were asked to wait until the tills came on again. We didn't know how long that would be so went to bed. Breakfast - a good selection, but the sausages could be better - too much filling rather than sausage meat. Reception and bar staff were pleasant. Parking £3 per night/24 hours. All in all mediocre.

Beautiful old building. Friendly and welcoming staff. Easy checking, parking £3.50 a day. Room was massive, comfortable, all you need for your stay. Stayed here last year and is beautiful and comfortable staff. Good price £52 a night. Only thing is room could do with touching up, to make it perfect. Not hotel fault, but one way system coming the other way have to cycle around up the top of the road.

Stayed here a few times, was always a bit shabby chic but good price with free car parking. Then guests started getting charged for car parking, then wouldn't change my room from 2 single beds to a double as I'd booked it via Booking.com, even though the double is just 2 singles joined together any other time I've been there! Also Television in room has very few channel choice despite being Freeview, used to have more. Unexpectedly had to cancel so requested through Booking.com another date as they had availability. Flat out refused despite me being a customer for a few years. So getting charged by them, Booking.com informed me. Totally inflexible and Booking.com customer service is also atrocious. Not worth it for a few rebates here and there. So Booking.com app getting deleted and Arnos Manor will not be getting my custom in the future. Very 'computer says no' crap. If they cannot accommodate you after they know you are a return customer, then it makes you think that as long as they get your money then that's all that matters to them.

Myself and my family stayed at Arnos Manor for a wedding and we did not have the experience you would’ve expected for the price paid. First major issue was checking in, fortunately we arrived when no one else was checking in but the check in itself took the best part of an hour - not ideal after several hours of driving to get there - and by the time we finally got our room keys there was a huge queue behind us, we were just lucky we arrived before them as I assume the group at the end of the queue would’ve been waiting well over an hour just to get their room keys. Second major issue was that the rooms had not been properly cleaned - multiple parties found what can only be described as pubic hairs in the baths and in one room the desk clearly hadn’t had as much as a wipe down as it was covered in biscuit crumbs and a sticky substance. The poor girl behind the bar who was clearly doing 5 jobs at once did immediately go to the room to clean the desk but you would expect this to have been done beforehand. As per other reviews, decor was very dated, which wouldn’t have been an issue had the rooms been cleaned to a minimally acceptable standard. No phones in the rooms to call down to reception so after a long travel we then had to walk back to reception to request the room to be cleaned. Bed linen in one of the beds was filthy too. At checkout, my mum who paid for the room received an invoice with a much higher price on it than she had been originally quoted that reception couldn’t explain - she then had to ring her bank to check what had actually been charged to her card due to the incorrect invoice. We have now also learnt another family member has been repeatedly charged the cost of their room since checking out, they have had to call and email Arnos manor multiple times to resolve this issue and didn’t receive so much as an apology - if this had happened to someone else with less money it could’ve put them into some significant financial trouble so I think this is very important to mention despite the issue ultimately being resolved. All very unfortunate as we didn’t arrive with very high standards and some of the staff were obviously doing their best under poor management - yet many other members of staff were unfriendly and didn’t seem to have a clue what they were doing, and all of the rooms were subpar. A lot of improvement needed in the standards of this hotel for both management and maintenance
