A two-room pub with rooms in Compton Martin, between Bristol and the Somerset countryside, known for its generous Sunday roasts.
About Ring O Bells
Compton Martin sits between Bristol and the Somerset countryside, a village setting that makes the Ring O Bells a handy base for exploring either. This is a pub with rooms rather than a large hotel, and with just two rooms on offer, it has the feel of a proper local rather than a corporate stop.
The rooms themselves are kept spotless and come well-equipped, a straightforward place to sleep after a day out. Downstairs, the restaurant and bar are the real draw, with a menu that runs from modern British dishes to traditional pub classics, and Sunday roasts that guests single out as generous and well-made. Breakfast is included, and there's a garden for warmer days, along with free WiFi and free on-site parking.
Staff are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is a welcoming one, sometimes lifted further by live music or festive decorations depending on the time of year. Pets are welcome, and with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, plus easy reach of both Bristol and the Somerset countryside, it suits guests who want a quiet village base without straying far from things to do.

We were a party of 5 for Easter Sunday lunch. First time I had used AI to suggest a top rated restaurant and we were not disappointed. Service was great, food delicious and the restaurant was lovely with lots of free parking. The piggy bits didn’t have pork crackling as advertised but the standard of food and portions were great.

What a surprise, for our roadtrip we've booked a room at this pub. This place is lovely, very warm and friendly people. The interior is cozy and they have a beautiful outdoors for relaxing and BBQ. Food is excellent! Great Joy!

Stopped for a quick bite to eat as we were staying locally. Lovely staff and good food. My beetroot and feta starter was delicious especially the candied walnuts! Impressive choice of ales too. It’s a shame the beautiful fires were not lit as we would have probably stayed longer as it wasn’t the warmest of days.

Was greeted by Rachel and personally shown to the room. Was made sure to be asked about food and if we wanted to eat with them that evening. Food was great. Staff were nice and we could choose our own table. Could have been a bit more attentive at the end of our meal but it was peak time so I went to the bar to pay which was easy. Bit of noise from the close proximity of the road but was fine. The room we stayed in had a tiled bathroom floor which was ice cold 😂 the last thing you want to be walking on at 3am while half asleep. Staff in the morning dumping rubbish into the bins I get, but the noise was loud and woke us up. Breakfast was really nice and you can tell there is quality in the ingredients. All in all means I'll look at other venues this company offer in the future.
