About The Crafty Cow
Sunday roasts and stone-baked pizzas are the main draw at The Crafty Cow, alongside a well-stocked selection of beers and ciders that keeps the bar busy. It's worth knowing the food, while well-regarded, can run a little pricey, but the kitchen and drinks range are the reason most people book a room here in the first place.
Upstairs there are just three en-suite rooms, keeping things small and straightforward rather than hotel-like. Each comes with free WiFi, and guests have access to a garden, luggage storage and 24-hour reception, so late arrivals and early starts are easily managed. Staff are consistently friendly, and the atmosphere downstairs tends to be lively rather than quiet.
The pub sits on Gloucester Road in Bristol, within reach of Redland and Bishopston, with other pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, plus a golf course for those wanting something more active. Free on-site parking is a genuine bonus in this part of the city, where parking can otherwise be a hassle.

What guests say
Stayed for the night as visiting friends locally so it was a great base for us. Free parking when a guest so just let the team know when you check in and you can come and go as you please. Busy pub and everyone local was saying how great the food was, so I will have to check it out next time I am in Bristol. Easy 24 hour access through secured doors, handy for vapers and smokers too. Staff check you in at the bar, there is a podium there so will take you over and assist. Very friendly and welcoming, actually took us up to the room and showed us around and how to access when pub is closed. Nice to have some good old fashioned service and welcome it’s been years since someone did that. The bar was very busy (Stayed during the World Cup) but couldn’t hear anything upstairs. It was very hot but ceiling fan available (again it was a heatwave at time of writing! So very difficult everywhere) Also very well (almost too well as check out at 11 so was a dash to get out :-) Toiletries such as hand soap and shower gel for conscience and also plenty of towels. Everywhere was cleaned and perfectly comfortable had a sofa bed telly and tea and coffee, outside the rooms were extras like water etc if required. Very reasonable cost, great location and couldn’t fault it. Thanks 🤩

Stayed her for the night recently, very nice room, heating and ceiling fan, warm in march, lovely big bathroom and toilet, easy access after hours so no worries what time you get home , just keep it down for the neighbours and other guests. We only had starters but they were delicious and generously proportioned. Huge garden for smokers and capers and enough beer on tap to keep most happy. Great place would definitely stay here again. Also added bonus discount on beer and food when you stay!!

We enjoyed our visit ( Mothers day) roast. Great value. On arrival we was greeted by the front of house person with a smile and the seven of us was shown to our table. The Mum's were given a free wine. Nice surprise. All staff were excellent, food arrived quickly. Great proportion. The chefs gave us a great meal. Relaxed atmosphere, not to formal. Children's play area was great and well behaved. Overall a nice place to visit, well done everyone.
