Pheasants Hill Old Byre suits couples after privacy and peace. This former cow barn from the 18th-century Pheasants Hill Farm sits within the Hambleden Valley, in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A single bedroom and ensuite are arranged on the ground floor, accessed via three steps. The bedroom contains a hand-carved oak bed from 1902, refitted with a new sprung base and orthopaedic mattress.

The living and dining room has a 32-inch smart TV. The kitchen contains an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge; a separate barn houses a freezer and washing machine. Underfloor heating in the ensuite and storage heaters elsewhere keep things warm. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and electricity are included. A welcome pack is provided and parking for two cars is on site.

An enclosed one-acre garden, shared with the owners, is your outdoor space, with a terrace and garden furniture. The garden is maintained without pesticides and attracts significant wildlife. Dogs stay free of charge. The property does not suit children, as there is an unfenced pond in the grounds fifty yards away. No smoking inside.

We're here at the moment. Week away primarily to catch up with old friends. The byre is fab! It's comfortable, quiet, well equipped, calming and clean! Hosts are accommodating and also very respectful of one's privacy. The garden is dog friendly and secure... important with a young dog. We're so happy in this place we've already booked again.

A lovely relaxing break, in a beautiful location. Just five minutes from the Chiltern Walk. Saw Deer and Red Kites. Highly recommend it. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful.

What a fabulous find, stayed for a week and our hosts were just wonderful 😀- we had two dogs and it was such a cosy little barn. Even better for there being no Mobile phone signal. WiFi was adequate, cookies were awesome as was the home made marmalade, plenty of warmth and outdoor space was great for the dogs. Will definitely be back.
